"good location, large rooms"
We stayed at the Levante Laudon for 4 nights in a standard apartment.
Check in was swift and friendly.
Our room was huge, there was a small entrance area leading to the living room. There was a kitchen, bathroom and separate bedroom. The bedroom was small but had plenty of wardrobe space and considering you had a big living room it didn’t need to be any bigger.
Our bedroom window overlooked the courtyard, but we never had any noise from this. The other windows overlooked a garden. We never experienced any noise from anywhere.
The furniture was the most recent and the standard of decorating wasn’t the highest, but the room was clean enough (could have done with some dusting of the skirting boards behind the bed). The only disappointment was in the bathroom where there was a whole in the tiles on the side of the bath.
There is no housekeeping if you stay in a standard apartments, we knew this when we booked so it didn’t bother us. If you needed clean towels you could just ask reception.
The lifts are tiny! But this is because it’s an old building. The lights in the hall do not stay on continuously, you have to press the switch (which is lit so you don’t need to search for it). I know this is common thing in smaller Austrian hotels and also in many apartment buildings on the continent.
Breakfast is served in a room adjacent to the reception and consists of croissants and bread rolls with a variety of jams and pate, and coffee or tea (no hot chocolate or juices). Because it’s a small room we had our breakfast in our room which was nicer anyway.
The location was good too, close to several tram lines. However, we went to most places on foot as Vienna is such a nice city walk in anyway. I would recommend getting a Vienna Card, which allows you to use the public transport for 72 hours and also gives you discounts in most museums.
Around the corner, on the Alser Strasse, there is a supermarket (Billa). It’s located in the courtyard of the old hospital (part of the university buildings), so you have to go through the gate to find it. There is also a café/restaurant there which serves food until 2am, practical if you get the munchies when returning from an evening out.
As for the service, we can not fault it! We had booked tickets to go the opera. We got the times mixed up and we didn’t notice until 20 minutes before the performance! We were certain we wouldn’t make it in time. We ran downstairs to the reception, asked them to phone a taxi with great haste. While waiting for the taxi, the receptionist phoned the opera to check whether our tickets were still available (as the have the right to sell them on if you don’t pick them up at least 30 minutes before the performance). He made sure the tickets would not be sold on and ensured we’d be there on time. If it wasn’t for him, we would have missed the opera (one of the reasons we came to Vienna).
Also, when we checked out we asked if there was a computer with printer we could use so we could do our online check in. They allowed us to use their computer behind the reception and didn’t charge us for it.

"Experienced Better Than Others"
After reading reviews left by others, we felt very fortunate that our experience was not close to these reviews. We had a superior laudon apartment for 5 nights and received daily housekeeping services, had an Ikea-like interior decorated suite which consisted of a small bedroom, a living room and a little kitchen. We had a room at the front of the building (away from the courtyard) which may have accounted for it being a more quiet room. Front desk service provided as much assistance as they could and spoke excellent English. . The apartment was close to the Ring and public transportation. The accommodation is appropriately priced we thought. It is worthy of a 3-star rating. We say, "Go to the small Bohemian restaurant at the end of the block!!

"Levante Laudon"
We stayed at the Levante Laudon for 3 nights in May. It was a very nice comfortable stay. The apartment was clean, had all the IKEA furniture and was reasonable priced.
We did our laundry here one night, which took almost 5 hours to dry. It is not a far walk from some of the major attractions. Or you can talk the train. Please try the restaurant Die Fromme Helene which was on Josefstaedter Strasse street (probably about a 10 min walk) the food & wine were excellent. We ate dinner there twice!!! The pasta, veal, the potato salad all were excellent
