"Decent Hotel"
We stayed here in late April, 2004. The hotel was nice. We had a room overlooking the street below. The room was the smallest of any we stayed at in Europe, but it was very clean. If you are a hot natured person like me and you want cool air at night (except winter), you will be fine as long as you don't mind listening to street noise below through your open windows.
Since the hotel is not near a main tourist attraction, you get a nice hotel for much cheaper. But, the location of the hotel is great. You literally walk out the front door, turn left, walk a few steps and you are at a stairway leading down to the local metro station (from which you can get anywhere). The neighborhood is nice, too. If you want breakfast, it is expensive. But, there are many little shops, cafe's, etc. on the street near the hotel where you can buy cheaper snacks or drinks.
Other than the size of the room, we had no problems. The room size really doesn't matter when you are going to be away from your room all day.

"Great value for not too spoiled travellers"
We stayed one night in the hotel and we liked it. We paid EUR 65 (special offer on the website of mercure) exclusive of breakfast (there is a McDonalds at 50 meters with free WiFi-access). The location, right in front of the Austerlitz railway station is great. The monumental center is within walking distance. The room is small but clean and the staff is very friendly. Ask for a room at the back.
