Experience @ Lido Hotel, GuangZhou
The reception & common area of the hotel is okay, but the room was far behind than what I expected. The air conditioner was not in good condition, water was muddy in colour & smelled weird, time to replace new mattresses, etc. Staff was friendly & efficient. The convenient shop in the hotel offers reasonable price as compared to the others. Location was the best among all criteria.

"Nice Hotel, Value for Money."
I stayed at the Lido Hotel (after an unsatisfactory night at the Holiday Inn City Centre). Though this is a three star hotel it is top rate for the Budget traveller. The room is clean and decent (stayed at a deluxe room). What is surprising to me is that you can get free broadband connection for your notebook. At Holiday Inn Guangzhou I had to pay RMB100 per day. If you don't have a Cat5 cable, they will provide it free. There is no cable TV but two English Channels from Hong Kong. The location is great - right smack at the Beijing Lu shopping location and malls. Many restaurents and food courts available too. All types of food available at inexpensive prices. It is a stragetic place where taxis will wait for you. It is also near the Guangzhou Metro (5 minutes walk away). It is also a pickup point for coaches to Hong Kong and other parts of Pearl Delta. You can buy the tickets at the hotel lobby. Plenty of public buses but I do not recommend unless you speak Mandarin or Cantonese. Value for money.

"Value for money"
My first time in Guangzhou and had read review on Lido (Yes from here), after making my hotel booking. Was quite worried that i might be hugely disappointed but quite amazing, that the hotel is not as bad as described. In fact, I would say it's real value for money. Paid S$60 for a deluxe room and you get a nice view & high floor. Room is average but at least it's clean and comfortable, what more can i ask for? The best thing is it's located on Beijing Lu so shopping is absolutely convenient!
