"NIce hotel, nice staff, great location"
The hotel was great. Staff were very nice, the room extremely pleasant (and far nicer than most other hotels I stayed at in China), and there were plenty of people who spoke enough English for me to get along. The location is terrific, and although I did not reserve a view room, I was on a high enough floor that I got views of the amazing scenery around Guilin (also somewhat slanty views of the pagodas, which were lovely). I had no complaints at all about this hotel and would recommend it. The "waterfall" was underwhelming, but interesting. I didn't book tours through the hotel, but rather through a different organization. However, I had the same experience one of the earlier posters had -- the guide kept trying to sell side tours. I went on one which was actually fine (to a "minority village"), and our guide also got us tickets to a show in Yangshuo which was one of the highlights of my trip to China (Liu Sanjie Impressions). No real complaints there, either.

"A great place to stay!"
A great place to stay in! We had a large room with fantastic river and lake view, and with the illuminated pagodas in the background. Its location is excellent - right in the city center, 3 minutes walk from the night market, the main commercial street and the pedestrian street. Breakfast buffet was very rich, with both Western and Chinese buffet. It should be mentioned that this was the only hotel in our China tour in which all the front desk persons spoke good English!
