"Le Concorde...Tres Bien!"
We stayed at Le Concorde for 2 nights, June 17/18 2007. Two adults and two children ages 17 and 20. The hotel was superb, the room was enormous and the staff could not have been more hospitable. Our room was $179.00 not including taxes, and parking ($23.00 daily - valet).
Before arriving, become a member of the Loews First club. I got this idea from Tripadvisor reviewer. Tt was a great idea...and it's FREE!
This membership entitles you to a newspaper, snack (or other treat) upon arrival, and upgraded room when available, not to mention some other perks.
Have the buffet lunch at L'Astral, a revolving rooftop restaurant. It's only $21.00 per person and the view alone is worth it, and the food isn't too bad either! Dinner is much more expensive ($42.00 for the buffet).
Have dinner at Le Couchon Dingue (The Pink Pig) in the lower city. Dinner for four including dessert (no liquor) all the taxes (two)and gratuity was about $90.00. The indoor dining room is non smoking!
You'll thoroughly enjoy Le Concorde!

"Loved the Loews"
Two of us recently stayed at Loews for a vacation the end of June. I must say this hotel exceeded my expectations. The location on the Grand Allee is beautiful; across a side street from a park and adjacent to the battlefield Plains of Abraham.
I had signed up for the Loews Club before arriving; definitely do this! It's free! You get a choice of snacks delivered to your room the first day. We had a fruit basket and bottled water.
Request a room on a high floor; I did and had one overlooking the park, Plains of Abraham and St. Lawrence. For some reason they put us on the Executive Floor. Try to request this; I'd recommend it. It's on the 21 floor and is non smoking.
The room itself was spacious, with a minibar, desk, table, 2 armchairs. The bathroom was adequate also. Everything was very clean.
The location on the Grand Allee is next to several (mostly high priced) restaurants; there are a couple that aren't too expensive. The St. Louis gate is a 5 minute walk, as is the Parliment buildings and the Citadel. The Frontenac Hotel is about a half mile down the street.
The staff I found was first rate; very accomodating, smiling and friendly.
I had ordered a package with the daily buffet breakfast. There is a selection of fresh fruit, croissants, eggs, bacon, yogurt, cold cereals, cheese, juice. Not the pancakes/french toast/bagles you'd expect on an American buffet, but definitely filling and easier than looking for breakfast outside of the hotel. The setting on the revolving roof restaurant is beautiful. Bring your camera.
The only thing I didn't like was a $23 daily parking fee, but there's really no place else to put the car.
The hotel definitely is pricey, but I wouldn't stay elsewhere in Quebec.

"Great views and luxurious room"
We booked a premium room through the hotel website and were given a room on the 25th floor--the highest guest room is on the 26th floor--with a killer view of Old Quebec and St. Lawrence Seaway. (The hotel is a slab with half the rooms facing Old Quebec and the seaway, and half facing away.)
This may be a matter of personal preference, but I thought the location ideal. The hotel is a couple of blocks above the old city which I found too tourist trappy. It is located on a block of great restaurants. It is also located in a nice leafy area of Quebec with some interesting restaurants located a few blocks in the opposite direction of the Old Quebec. In short, it is ideally located for walking, either to the old city, or in the opposite direction in a lovely neighborhood.
We ate lunch twice in the revolving restaurant on the top. The lunch menu was excellent and competitive in price with comparable ground level restaurants.
Although the room was quite luxurious this is a hotel that seeks out tour busses and other groups. Our first 2 nights of a 4 night stay the hotel hosted a high school prom. Our price in US dollars including parking ($21/day) and taxes but not including internet or food was $1325 for the 4 nights. I'm sure the prom groups and other groups were paying a lot less. We certainly did enjoy the quiet and the view of our 25th floor room. However, it is hard to evaluate the "value" part of the review when you figure your are paying a lot more than the average guest.
I would enjoy a return visit to this hotel.

Lowes Glows!
My 17 year old daughter and I traveled through southeastern Canada in July and reserved a room at Lowes ahead of time based on the reviews I read on Trip Advisor. While speaking with the reservations clerk, I told her I wanted this to be a special experience for my daughter as it was the end of our vacation. I asked her to please give us a room with a good view... I was so happy when we entered the room! The rooms were redecorated last year and are very elegant, well appointed and spacious. We had a view of the river, the park, and surrounding Quebec. It was absolutely fabulous! The service was friendly, timely and helpful. We ate in l'Astral (a revolving restaurant overlooking the City) one night and had a late supper in our room another night. The food was excellent and we felt truly pampered. Hotel was located close to everything, the staff was delightful, and the rooms were awesome! My daughter and I truly enjoyed our stay and will--without a doubt--stay at the Hotel Lowes le Concorde again!

great hotel
the views from inside are wonderful and the hotel service is excellent all around. The revolving restaurant was surprisingly very good in addition to providing panoramic views of the city. |

Loews-clean, freindly and good location
We stayed 4 nights in late August 2005 to attend a music festival in the city. From a location point of view – it is very close, but not in the Old Town. A good 15 – 20 minute walk to and maybe 30 back (it’s uphill coming back.) We stayed in a junior suite, 2 rooms – sitting and sleeping and had plenty of room. We faced the old town so had wonderful views. The staff took pains to keep everyone happy. Service in the lobby breakfast area was slow and prices high – only had breakfast there once. Quality and service in the revolving restaurant, was excellent. Enjoyed a wonderful seafood platter – lobster, shrimp, scallops, salmon, etc. Overall the hotel was clean, staff friendly and the location adjacent to many restaurants, bars and other eateries, excellent.
