Excellent hotel with close proximity to downtown Ottawa
As the title states, the Lord Elgin is perfect for easy and comfortable accesiblity to exciting and historic downtown Ottawa. It is near Parliament, the Rideau Centre, UOttawa, and the canal and locks. Room service was wonderful and the Lord Elgin Cafe provides a lovely dinner.

The hotel was wonderful. We stayed in newer rooms overlooking the square. Walking distance to almost everything Ottawa has to offer. Nice indoor pool in the basement - computer internet access in lobby kept the boys connnected. We visited the great museums in Ottawa and walked to the market for eats. In Ottawa, check out an area behind Parliament - cats have been living there for over 40 years.

Ottawa’s Best
Everything you would expect from a luxury hotel and so much more. The hotel was spotless. The location was a short walk to everything. The staff was eager to help in any way possible. They were all knowing in my information requests and quick to point out the hot spots and eateries that all tourist should visit. I will be back in the fall and there is no doubt were I will stay.

Close to Everything - Great Hotel
Everything at the Lord Elgin was great. We travelled with our kids and stayed here for 5 nights. The rooms are fairly large and tastefully decorated, with high ceilings typical of the period. You can actually open your window if you want to hear the bustle outside. We found the beds very comfortable compared to some of the other hotels we stayed in during our trip. There is also a fridge in the rooms which is very useful with young kids, and to keep beer in from the LCBO which is a short walk away in the Rideau centre! Bathrooms functional and tidy. Nice marble etc. The staff were all fantastic; the Valet team were great, check in desk were helpful and quick, and throughout our stay everyone seemed like they enjoyed what they were doing - including housekeeping who provided us with extra towels and toiletries for the kids. The pool was good, though a little cold - but great after a humid day in Ottawa. There is also a nice hottub, and saunas. The kids loved it. You can check emails/web at the business centre in the lobby too. If you are staying, I reccommend checking out the food on Elgin St. for breakfast. There is a Dunn's deli, and all of the usual fast-food restaurants 2 mins walk. Also the By Ward market is only 10 mins walk through the Ridau Centre or across via Chateau Laurier. You can get a good meal there from a variety of Pubs and restaurants.we thought it was extremely good value and would not hesitate to stay again.

"What a great place!"
We just got back from a trip to Ottawa for Winterlude and stayed at the Lord Elgin Hotel. What a great place!! It is within walking distance of many of the events. The staff were really pleasant when we were checking in and were always happy to give us directions or recommend different events. The cleaning staff always made a point of saying hello to us in the hallways. The hotel has recently been refurbished and it looks fantastic! The rooms are relatively spacious and clean. We had a view of the park which was great. We didn't use the restaurant until this morning and had many regrets about not eating there earlier! The brunch was lovely and the food was fantastic! They will make you omelettes to order and you can make your own waffles. There is a lot of choices in this spread - be sure NOT to miss it! And ask for Tammy - she's not only funny, she's extremely efficient!
