"Top marks for The Lowry, a fabulous time"
We wanted something special for my partners birthday and we were certainly not disappointed.
We barely had time to remove our luggage from the car when the porters came over to greet us and take our bags. That set the tone for the rest of the stay as all the staff were professional, courteous, polite and helpful.
Check in was a breeze and we were then escorted to our room by the same lady who took time to explain where everything was and how it worked. The room was excellent, much larger than it seemed in pictures and very comfortable, especially the large bed. Both housekeeping and room service were very helpful and tended to all our requests.
We had a beautiful meal in the hotels restaurant, a little expensive but worth it. And the bath butler was a great touch, running the bath and bringing champagne, chocolates and strawberries.
The only annoyance was the additional charge for the car park, it really should be free for guests.
Will most definitely stay again.

"back for seconds"
Stayed twice at the Lowry in August; first time with two teenaged children, second time just my wife and I. Very convenient for parking and walking to city centre, yet just sufficiently removed to be quiet.
Rooms are some of largest we have encountered ; spacious, airy and with minimal but very comfortable fittings - the chaise longue is an unusual but comfortable touch. Beds are very good indeed and bathrooms are well equipped with toiletries and comfortable to use. One of my own quirky pleasures are the wide and airy corridors - too often your comfortable feelings in a hotel cease when you step out of your room into narrow dingy corridors. In the Lowry, you leave your room and step into bright, broad and well lit avenues - a really nice design touch. The hotel bar is intimate yet can be sufficiently private not to feel overlooked or overheard - our only concern was a lack of non-smoking area, but a relatively quiet evening meant this was not a problem for us. Service was attentive and friendly at all times. Good wine list and some reasonably priced champagnes that tempted us on our second visit. (e.g Billecart Salmon NV £38; Moet NV, £42, Bollinger £60). The fizz was just perfect on the Terrace overlooking the river as the sun went down ( I now realise the Billecart just went straight to my head and led to the Bolly - common sense should have it other way round - Bollinger first !) The River Restaurant was excellent on both visits - first time very accommodating with teenagers who only like Pizza but were quite taken by a delicious omelette Arnold Bennett. Second time highlights for my wife and I were the Foie Gras and Cumberland sauce as starter then the most delicious halibut in champagne and caviar veloute. Chef was also very accommodating by preparing a smaller portion of Creme Caramel to accompany the assiette of chocolate deserts. All in all we think this an excellent hotel. Not cheap by any means (although we got good deals on Laterooms) but can be reasonable as a base to use for city centre shopping (picnic in room with M&S snacks) or, if you want to push the boat out, it can be as luxurious as anywhere you could wish.
Thank you Lowry - once again, a great time had by all.

"What a surprise"
We celebrated a friends birthday here, they had done all the arranging, so we just arrived! Fantastic, the rooms were amazing, every detail considered, it was an added bonus that the England Football team were staying and I shared a lift with Sven....but I won't let that bias my opinion.
We had an excellant evening meal, with service that was faultless. The art work including sculptures were well thought through, and added to the experience. The car park was quite busy, although we were able to find a space.
We will definately be returning.

"Modern Luxury, Old World Charm"
The Lowry is a beautiful, ultra-modern hotel that is part of a major urban renewal effort in Manchester. The rooms are HUGE by European standards and beautifully furnished in modern furniture - including a leather chaise lounge. The bed was extremely comfortable, the desk was large, there were enough electric outlets, high speed ethernet access and the bathroom has an extra-long tub.
The staff and service at this hotel were superb. Racking up LOTS of hotel stays every year, I'm very sensitive to good service and the Lowry ranks among the best in the world. In addition to my hotel stay, I attended a conference and a black-tie banquet at the Lowry. The food was excellent the service at the dinner exceptional (e.g. all 10 guests at each table were served each course simultaneously by 10 waiters). Any call to reception or the concierge generated an immediate response and was handled with the utmost courtesy.
The only possible draw-back to this hotel is that is it in fact located on the edge of current renewal efforts in Manchester. It is safe to walk from the Lowry toward the city center, but I would not personally recommend a late night walk in the other direction. The neighborhood behind the Lowry is clearly not a nice one.

"a haven of pleasure"
if you want a pure chill out ...this is the place, we left the kids at home and took the first class train to manchester where we were taken to the lowry, we were greeted by the concierge who took our bags and we were briskly checked in and then taken to our room, clean and bright huge king bed with the usual facilities you would expect in a five star room, marble bathroom and the best thing was the bath butler - yes a menu designed to help you stay in the bath that bit more relaxing! choose from a variety of gorgous delights from chocolate dipped strawberries to 12 luxury chocolates to canapes and to complement the delights why not try the selection of molton brown bathfoam a 100ml bottle may set you back £6 but it is worth every heavenly minute. The best bit is they run the bath then put candles around it and leave you to relax among the bubbles and scented oil while you gently pop another strawberry into your mouth, sorry but i do like a good bath!!
Anyway the service fab, breakfast brilliant , plenty of fresh juices and anything you wish for is yours.
Massage was amazing, candle lit rooms very relaxing and only the finest organic oil was used, a great treat.
The hotel staff were amazing,so helpful anything you want is "not a problem" if only every service was the same!
I feel they have thought of everything and for us a trip of pure relaxation was made better than can be expected, a real gem, thankyou.
you have to try the club sandwich - its the best ever...

"Very Nice Hotel"
Just got back from a 2 night stay at The Lowry. It was a really special trip and the hotel staff are brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble for them. We had dinner in the hotel one night and had the chef's special selection. It isn't cheap to eat here but the River Restaurant is very classy and I thought the service excellent. The rooms are lovely too, with a very big bed which was extremely comfortable. We had a river view room and the view was really nice. We walked from the back of the hotel over the bridge in the evenings and certainly didn't find it the least bit intimidating. If I was going to Manchester again I would definitely stay here! Pure luxury. |

"Clean, Contemporary hotel with great staff"
This is an excellent, modern hotel, with larger than average rooms and lots of natural daylight. The beds as extremely comfortable, although I do have to agree with a previous reviewer about the pillows - a bit lumpy and hard! The staff are extremely polite and attentive, I totally disagree with the reviewer who said the staff act like they own the place - they most certainly don't!! This place is ideal for business people, and for those looking for a weekend although don't stay here if you want 'cosy' or 'twee'!
