"Great location" We booked the Luxor Regente through an internet booking company for Carnaval. We were very happy with our stay at this hotel. We didn't have a view room, but we enjoyed the views from the pool area and the beach bars just across the street. Because we were in an inside room, our room was quiet. We found the room adequate and clean. The breakfast (included) and feijoida brunch were great. We appreciated the complimentary umbrella and towel for beach use, as well as the security fellow on the beach. The concierge staff was helpful in booking a soccer game and Sugar Loaf/Corcovado tour for us and informed us of Carnaval activities. One of the bellmen recommended the Churrascaria Palace (near Copacabana Palace) for a rodizio and the food was fabulous! It was a 20 min. walk back to the Luxor Regente. A good hotel in a great location!

"Loved the Luxor Regente" A friend and I stayed at the Luxor Regente from March 16 - 22, 2006. We found the hotel more than met our needs. This was my first trip to Brazil and I found the hotels location on Copacabana to be ideal. The front desk staff was friendly and understood a great deal of English. We had a partial ocean view room which didn't really give us a view of the ocean but who cares because the rooftop gives an excellent view. The room was small by American standards but we did not expect an American size room. The breakfast was very good and the staff warm and friendly. The rooftop pool and bar, as I indicated before, provide a great view of Copacabana but also serve great (but pricey)drinks. There are great beach bars across Av. Atlantica that serve much cheaper drinks (4 real for a capirinha) right on the beach. You also are near many places to eat and there is an HSBC atm a block behind the hotel. You could stay at nicer places in Copacabana but if you are hoping to spend most of your money shopping, sightseeing, and enjoying brazilian food it is a great hotel!

"a great vacation at the Luxor Regente" . My husband and I enjoy a room with a view and this one was unbelievable. The room was quite nice as was the bathroom, which had a huge overhead shower. We found all the hotel employees to be very helpful. Perhaps they weren't quite as service-oriented as in some other countries, but overall, they did fine. I did a little investigating on Internet before our trip and I went to Rio with information and phone numbers for tours. Before I got into the van on one tour, the guide asked me to please not tell the others on the tour how much I paid, since I had booked it direct and was not paying the commission that the rest of them were paying. It helps to do your homework! We had a great, safe, fun vacation in Rio and we would definitely return to this hotel.
