"Class act"
We arrived unannounced as refugees from an unpleasant stay (Bath House Hotel) and were made very welcome, given immediate access (before 10am) and given an upgrade. The room was well appointed and we felt suitably pampered. Evening food and wine were very respectable. Recommended if pricey.

"Fantastic and friendly with unpretentious service"
My husband and I spent a night here and absolutely loved it. We had spent some years walking past the Randolph as students in the 1990s, and I had always been rather intimidated by the liveried doorman, so I was slightly apprehensive that, not being fabulously rich or titled, we would be treated with condescension. However, when we walked in, they couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful and efficient. Our Ford was driven off just as neutrally as if it had been a Rolls Royce or Morse's Bentley, and our room was well-sized, extremely comfortable and equipped with everything we could have needed. The bathroom was similarly well-equipped and we both appreciated the power shower. Although the room faced directly on to Beaumont Street, we were not disturbed by traffic noise, and the bed was magnificently comfortable. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel - while the room was very reasonably priced, the breakfast, at £16 per head, was not - and there are plenty of good places to breakfast in Oxford - I would recommend the Covered Market. Having looked through the Randolph's list of "Extras", my impression is that they generate a lot of their revenue through charges for these. I would heartily recommend the Randolph for its comfort and the unobtrusive attentiveness and efficiency of its staff - they made us feel really welcome.

"Wow!"
We stayed here in June to attend a friend's wedding. The hotel is beautiful both inside and out. Our room was incredibly comfortable and quiet. It really felt like we were staying in the guest bedroom of a VERY rich friend. I highly recommend having afternoon tea. I cannot stop thinking about the shortbread...it was amazing! The hotel is also in a great location for sight seeing. The Eagle and Child Pub is right around the corner, which is a great place to grab a pint!

"Loved The Hotel"
I stayed at the Randolph for a brief Summer Holiday in 2002. I was more than pleased with the service. The staff were extremely helpful and, considering I had arrived on a package deal with set times for dinner etc, they were extremely flexible. My single room, although not classed as superior was absolutely beautiful and well cared for.
After reading the comments that the bar was too small and the menu limited, I have to comment that the complainants have obviously no appreciation for the cosy, old fashioned english comfort not associated with modern bars nor for the fact that this hotel is amongst the elite. As for the menu, they would find that the chef is skilled and more than flexible if one requires something not listed on the menu.
I will be returning to the Randolph this year, and from my personal correspondence with them, I can say that standards are still excellent.

"Wonderful Hotel!"
The Randolph is a wonderful hotel with a great restaurant and superb service! The room we had on a two night stay was immaculate - so clean it sparkled with every convenience including a CD player, air conditioning, fogless mirror in the bathroom and trouser press. The restaurant food and service was excellent without being excessively priced. The breakfast included both cold and hot items. The staff were keen to assist in every way. We would highly recommend this hotel and hope to return again to its comforts.

"We LOVED it! These other reviewers must be incredibly picky!"
My husband and I and another couple stayed at the Randolph for three nights at the end of September. The husbands were attending a training, and our hotel was selected for us. I had read the reviews on this site and in travel guides, so I wasn't expecting much. Maybe that had something to do with my impression, because I was exceedingly impressed! First, the hotel lobby and drawing room are truly beautiful! The stairs winding up the the third floor are stunning. The lifts are tiny, but who cares! We had a corner room which was lovely! Our view was of a monument to martyrs - stunning! I loved that our windows actually opened, so we could let in the crisp fall air. The bed was comfortable, the bath charming, I couldn't have been more pleased! Drinks in the bar were divine, and the bartender was very helpful in assisting me with my drink order! The only complaint I have is the breakfast was NOT worth the expense. Otherwise, I highly recommend the hotel!
