"Great PLace"
We have just returned from a 4 night holiday in Paris. Having read quite a few horror stories about the size and quality of rooms in Paris, I didnt quite know what to expect. The Magellan Hotel was a pleasant surprise. On arrival, the reception staff were very friendly, prompt and courteous. We were assigned a room that looks onto the street, nice quite street though so no traffic noise. The bathroom was lovely and there was a free safety deposit box. The room was tastefully decorated. Breakfast was the usual continental stuff- crossants, cheese, ham, fruit juice, cereals, fruit. The orange juice was freshly made, totally delicious. This hotel is a great starting point for exploring the city, it is our first time in Paris and we got around to see loads. You can walk to the arc de triomphe in about 15 minutes, alternativley you can catch the metro "pereire" which is only 5 minutes away. The reception staff were very helpful on giving directions and maps.if you are flying ryanair, we did the shannon-beauvais route, then this is a great hotel because the bus stop is only about 10-15 minutes walk away. The hotel was very clean and there was a maid service every day.
things to recommend- disneyland paris- we went there for one day, halloween festival was on, brilliant day out.Do a boat trip on the seine, go to the top of the eiffel tower and do a bus tour at the start of your holiday so youll know what to visit.
Go to dogstar pub just off the champs elysees , one block up from the disney store. This is a really chilled out bar, there was a happy hpur from 4-8pm.
we will definitely return to paris and to the magellan hotel

"Excellent find!"
We’ve just returned from a 2 night stay at the Magellan and it was absolutely fault-less. We drove by car and pre-booked a parking space, which was in a nearby secure, under-ground car park. They only charged us for two days parking, despite the fact we asked to leave the car there after we checked-out which was no problem at all. I was surprised to see the earlier comments regarding the poor breakfast. In addition to croissants and rolls (not to mention the wonderful fresh orange juice and coffee), there was a selection of four types of cheese and three types of meats. The breakfast room was no-smoking, which we found unusual for Paris and we were grateful for that. The staff were extremely helpful, the bedroom was absolutely fine and the environmentally-friendly bathroom toiletries were lovely. We will definitely return to the Magellan in future – we got a fantastic deal through [--] and only paid £124 for the two night stay and it was well worth it.

"Loved the hotel, staff and the location to wonderful cafes."
This was our first visit to Paris and what a great location. The hotel was very comfortable and accomodating. We were close to wonderful cafes, shopping and public transportation. We took walks to the Champs Elysees and Arc de Triumph. The hotel staff got tickets for us to see the Moulin Rouge show, tour the Eiffel Tower, tour Versailles and a beautiful Seine River dinner cruise. We will return again to this charming hotel.

"Great Hotel, Nothing bad to say."
stayed at the Magellan from the 7th-9th of august 05 after reading good reviews. it's about a 5 minute walk to the metro station and it's in a quiet and safe area. it was about a 10-15 minute walk to the Arc de Triomphe.
the room was clean, nicely decorated (not the usual tacky florals etc) and a decent size. the bed and pillows were very comfortable. the bathroom was clean. we had a lovely view onto a quiet garden.
we didn't speak to the staff much but they seemed friendly. they spoke english. we booked the hotel as part of a package with the eurostar tickets, so not sure how it would compare if you were to book it on its own. but for hotel and train it was only £120 for three days each with 'shortbreaks'.
the breakfast was fantastic, probably the best i've had. lovely bread and cheese and little jars of jam at your table. plus a lot more. they even had a machine that squeezed oranges for juice! they had a nice little garden but unfortunately it was a little too chilly to use it.
we thought this was a great hotel. we would definitely stay there again.
paris was a little quiet due to it being august - i don't think i would go back at that time of year again. lots of shops and restaurants in the less touristy bits were closed unfortunately. still had a great time though, it's a beautiful city.

"A very good all round hotel - good for groups"
Just came back from a four day stay at the Hotel Magellan and would reccomend it to anyone - especially if off with a group. Booked it through my work travel agency for 30 of us from work to spend a night there for an away day and then 5 of us stayed there for the weekend. Obviously I was a bit nervous as I was organising the trip and had a lot of people to please but it could't have worked out better. The staff were very helpful whenever I rang up from england and even phoned me back later with the number for a local coach co. When we arrived the road was abit narrow for our coach to stay in the road for too long but the staff ensured a very quick and smooth check-in. All the rooms I saw were a decent size and had stylish decor with some interesting arty pics on the wall. All my group said their rooms was nice and clean. Breakfast was pastries and baguettes etc and also good. There is a nice courtyard area outside and the reception is good for pre-dinner drinks and nightcaps. It might look a bit out of town at first but it's in a nice area and only a quick walk to the tube - also it's easy to get a taxi to come to the hotel. Staff were very nice and didn't moan when we eventually left our rooms 30 mins after check -out - always a bonus in my eyes!
