"It's worth the visit!"
I stayed at the Makedonia Palace in July. It was the first time for me in this hotel. Alhough I travel a lot both for business and pleasure, seldom do I use hotels in the city centre but I decided to make an exception this time, as I had heard that this hotel is worth the experience.
The location is excellent, it's almost in the city centre, 5 minute walk to the market and right in front of the sea. I booked a sea view room at an appealing price that included the american buffet breakfast.
Needless to say that I was astonished by the view, what an amazing sunset! The buffet breakfast was delicious with a variety of items to choose from. I enjoyed a drink at the roof top bar veranda and I also had dinner at the restaurant next to it, Porfyra, that was superb!!
The staff was friendly and very helpful when I asked information about the city, the perfect picture in combination with the clean and spacious environment of this luxury hotel.....
Apart from the hotel, the city has a lot to offer. I ate at the Byzantine museum, which was also great, I wandered around the city and was able to see many of its attactions and went shopping to spoil myself!
There are a lot of bar restaurants that are worth the visit like Shark and Interni as well as a lot of bars on the main city avenue that are really nice!
Overall, I recommend the Makedonia Palace, when in this city it is the place to stay at!Definately!

"Amazing city, Amazing hotel!!!!"
I was last week in Thessaloniki for a couple of days, as a member of the jury for the international film festival and i had the chance to stay at Macedonia Palace.
Well this is an amazing hotel in an amazing city. I have already been a couple of times in Athens and the islands but Thessaloniki is a find! Great architercture, modern buildings together with art deco-fin de siecle mansions and byzantine and roman monuments. Food was great, much cheaper than in Athens. The city oozes a unique atmoshere, something you dont easily find in other european big cities, sth between european civilasation together with middle eastern and ancient greek influences.
The hotel is definately the best option in city. 15 minutes walk to the center and more importantly away from any noice (be aware! the hotels in the Aristotelous Sqr might be noicy in the lower floors!).
The room was elegant and big with comfty beds, the bathroom well apointed with great toiletries. Breakfast was awesome, huge and with many local delicacies which escape the typical 5* breakast. But most of all, the hotel is privileged of a unique position with unbelievable- i mean it- views to teh sea and the city.
Waking up in the morning and staring at this view was a life time experience.....

"Great Hotel, friendly efficient staff"
We have stayed in the Makedonia Palace many times over the last five years. The staff are always efficient and friendly, the breakfast is superb (smoked salmon, bacon, eggs in various styles, fruit, breads, etc., etc.) The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The bathrooms are marble tiled and good quality bath/hair preparations are provided. The reception area is very large, marble tiled and has an excellent coffee lounge. I believe it is the only five star hotel in Thessaloniki, and the prices are very good for the quality of hotel. In fact we are just off for four days to attend a wedding in Thessaloniki, and we will again be staying at this lovely hotel. Don't be put off by the outside appearance which is just a typical city multi storey hotel. The inside is beautiful. A drink in the Corleone Bar, especially in summer when you can sit outside looking over the sea, is a must.

"One of two best hotels in Thessaloniki"
Before the Hyatt ,Macedonia Palace had the #1 hotel in Thessaloniki now it shares that spot, clean aircond. rooms with their own true thermostat unlike most hotels in Greece were the management realy controls the settings, comfortable beds, there was a large fruitbasket in our room upon arrival ,I stayed there a few years ago it has since undergone a several million dollar renovation ,it is just outside the center of beautifull historic Thessaloniki ,on the water(Thermaikos Gulf no swiming there, just views)gorgeous beaches 90 min. away (Halkidiki ORthe beaches by mount Olympus the largest peak in Greece ,I highly recomend both, northern Greece is truly beautiful and the Macedonia Palace has always been a great hotel in Thessaloniki.

"Superb!"
Really cool! The hotel was better than expected from the pics on the internet site. Rooms are stylish and spacious. Stereo system adds up. Views are +++! So choose a water view. Staff at the reception very helpful, ask for the shopping hints :-) Breakfast offers a variety. Waiters at the breakfast could be a bit more friendly, but I guess it's a general "issue" in Greece.
So go for it! Really memorable experience!
