"Great time at Easter"
Stayed here based on great reviews from tripadvisor even though I knew it was little further out of the way than I like (have been to Rome 7-8 times before). Excellent service - waaaay better than similar 4 star hotels I've stayed in Italy. Was with my mother and aunt - 3 single rooms -while they were not very spacious there was more than enough room to feel comfortable and not claustrophobic. Breakfast lovely on the roof terrace. Location was actually okay - taxis chepa from city centre and only a short walk to metro/buses.

"Love, Love, Love this hotel!"
This was our first stop on our 17 day vacation throughout Italy and Prague. We stayed here for 5 nights. This was by far our favorite hotel. It is worth the cost! The front desk men were the best part of the hotel. They helped us book dinner reservations and tours, showed us on a map where to go for a day and all the stops we should make along the way, etc. They were such a huge help and if you stay here you should definitely take advantage of that. The room was decent size, bathroom was large, safety deposit box in closet and nice size closet. We had windows that opened to the street. Breakfast was good: cereal, pastries, croissants, eggs, bacon, ham, prosciutto, orange juice, etc. It is served until 10am. Many days we had a hard time waking up for that(because we would go out the night before). The rooftop area was nice to go on for drinks. We did not eat at the restaurant there. It is not in a central location of all the tourist places but I actually liked it better. It was quiet. I went with my best friend and we had a blast! Most of the people staying at the hotel were older couples. We walked to most places. The Trevi Fountain and Pantheon were about a 30-45 minute walk but we would stop a long the way and were walking pretty slow. The Colosseum was a 15-20 minute walk. There is plenty of good restaurants right around the hotel. If you are young and looking to go out you should go to Campo De Fiori - bars, pubs and clubs. A great place to go for dinner is Piazza Navona - it is an area not an actual restaurant. There are so many restaurants in and around that area. Right around the Spanish Steps is all the high end designer clothing stores (Dior, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, etc.) Of the three cities we went to in Italy(Rome, Florence and Venice), Rome was by far our most favorite. We stayed five nights and could have stayed longer. Definitely take a tour of the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St. Peters Basilica(should be one package). We learned so much and you skip the 3 hour long line. I will most definitely stay at Marcella Royal again! Great Hotel!

"Lovely Marcella!"
We have just returned from Rome after a six day stay which was totally enhanced by staying at The Marcella Royal. As we always do when travelling, we relied on Tripadvisor for hotel choices. We arrived early and had booked one of the two suites,which was ready.However, it was the wrong suite( I had requested the jacuzzi suite) and we were told to return in an hour. The staff then tracked us down to the roof terrace( no idea how they knew we were there! ) and had moved all our luggage to the requested suite,even re-hanging our coats in the wardrobe. This was a lovely, very spacious room ( 428). All the staff were SO attentive and always smiling-and very helpful with restaurant bookings etc; Can't wait to go back
