"Great hotel!!!"
Having stayed at the Meritus' group of hotels flagship Meritus Mandarin on Orchard Road for the past many years. I made the decision to try the Marina Mandarin a few months ago and I must say that the hotel and the Marina area can be a great alternative to Orchard Road.
From arrival to check-in, staff were excellent, hallmarks of Meritus! The lobby was awesome, especially in the mornings when you get to hear birds chirping and at night as it is illuminated.
I won't deny that the rooms aren't 100% sound-proofed so you do hear the pianist playing late into the night. It didn't really bother in fact the soft tunes might have helped me sleep better.
Meals at Aquamarine is superb. The buffet was extremely elaborate, fresh and offered great value for money. Once again, the staff there didn't disappoint.
Location wise, it is some 15 minutes on foot to the subway but you don't get bored along the way as the hotel is connected via an underground shopping mall!

"Great Stay"
I stayed at this Hotel in August 2006. The stay was excellent. Everything was good. Service, food, rooms, atmosphere were all excellant. But I did not stay there on a weekend. I was told that on Sundays the hang bird cages with live birds in the atrium and one can enjoy the chirping sound of the birds. If true, I will not stay at this hotel again. I DO NOT SUPPORT THAT. I BELIEVE NO ANINMAL OR BIRDS SHOULD BE CAGED.
