Marriott Hotel Liverpool South, originally the city's airport building famously thronged with Beatles fans in the 1960's. It is now one of the finest and most exciting hotels in the Northwest of England.
It's stunning to look at inside and out, with the fabulous Grade II listed art deco architecture and very stylish comtemporary surroundings.
Food and wine are excellent with Starways Restaurant serving through lunch and dinner. For a more informal setting, Club Central lounge and bar offer a modern menu perfect for a sample of this truly unique hotel. This full-service hotel offers deluxe accommodations, bar and restaurant, leisure club facilities and nine air conditioned conference rooms with natural daylight and dataports. |

"Hotel of the Year Contender!"
As I do my most of my travel in the U.S., an airport Marriot makes me think of a dull, anti-septic cookie-cutter style hotel. Imagine my suprise when I found out on a recent football trip to Liverpool (C'mon you Mighty Reds!) that the Marriot Speke has none of these qualities. There is little not to like: The hotel - which apparently used to be the Liverpool airport - has a retro, air-travel-in-the-1950s sort of a feel, including vintage BOAC prints in the lobby, a restaurant whose entrance looks like an airport terminal (but without the lines), and a two-propellor biplane sitting on the front lawn. Perhaps more impressively, the hotel service was of "Four Seasons" quality. All of the staff -- and especially the concierges - made us feel like we were the most important guests in the hotel. The beds were comfortable too - great linens and showers -- although the standard double room was a little on the small side. The restuarant had a really nice breakfast and dinner menu too -- although it didn't come cheap. All in all, if you don't mind not being in the city center, you cannot and will not go wrong with this hotel.

"Simply the Best"
We returned today after an overnight stay at this excellent hotel. Everything was perfect and we cannot praise the hotel hightly enough. The breakfast was the best we have had in any hotel and the rooms could not have been more comfortable. Hotel staff were all very helpful and friendly.
With the use of the David Lloyd Centre and the hotel restaurant we didn't feel the need to venture any further.
We are glad that we chose to disregard the negative reviews but would love to sample some of the hotels that those reviewers rate highly....if any!
All in all a wonderful experience and we'll be back.

"A very special weekend"
We have just returned from a very special weekend based at the Liverpool South Marriott Hotel close to the airport. A very attractive Art-deco building with a service that matches this pleasant building. With a combination of excellent food and service we were very satisfied with our stay at this hotel and shall certainly make a return visit.

"Fantastic"
We stayed at the Liverpool Marriot South for a weekend break in July 2005
and we could not find fault with anything. The hotel decor is very tastefully done in art deco style, the room we had was large, impeccably clean and very comfortable. The breakfast's were the best we've had at any hotel in the UK. The staff were very helpful and friendly and could not do enough for us. We have stayed at Hotels twice as expensive and even though they were ok, they don't come upto the standard we found at Liverpool South.
We will definatley stay here again.

"Good weekend Location"
Booked a half price bed and breakfast deal for the wife and I.
The room was clean, the breakfast was good and the hotel staff very pleasant, efficient and helpful.
The hotel is the old airport terminal building (1930's style) but modernised; some short distance from the current airport, so no noise and not very full at the weekends.
Plenty of free car parking that feels safe, unlike some in Liverpool.
The hotel has a deal with the superb David Lloyd fitness centre next door, and everything is free, except for tennis.
Being located fifteen minutes by car from Liverpool Town Centre and less than 45 minutes from Chester, we found it to be an ideal tourist base for the weekend.
The wife says we will be returning there soon.
