"Faultless"
WE,as a couple,spent a night this mth at the York Marriott.The staff were friendly and extremely professional.The restaurant was exellent both for dinner & breakfast.WE didnt have our son with us but there were lots of families & it is obviously child friendly. The room was very clean & comfortable (and quiet).I will definitely be coming back.

We decided to visit York and preferred to stay a bit out of the centre away from the crowds or street noise. Our stay was over the weekend from the 20th - 22nd January 2006. This location proved to be excellent. The hotel was still within walking distance but far enough away. The location is tranquil and situated on Tadcaster Road which runs alongside the race course. The grandstand etc are within view of the hotel. This would be a fabulous hotel when the races were on and it's something we will consider. We suspect it will be popular so early booking will no doubt be advised. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful and no fault could be made with them or the accommodation. Our sink plug stuck and it was reported to the reception, on return from our day of sightseeing it was working fine again. The room was adequately furnished with a good standard of bed linen and the furnishings themselves of good quality. A hairdryer, iron and ironing board and a trouser press supplied in each room. Everything was in working order. Tea and coffee tray and mini bar. Television and also a selection of up to date films at extra cost available. The dining room was excellent and there was always a member of waiting staff to help if you required anything over and above what was displayed on the hot plates. We only stayed bed and breakfast so cannot comment on the lunch or evening menus although we did spend the first night in the lounge/bar area. We ate from the bar menu which was fine, well presented. There was a young lounge singer who was great and took requests from the guests. He was good fun and well worth sitting listening to. We met some lovely people from all walks of life who were friendly and joined in with the fun. The only complaint in the bar area was having to return two drinks on two separate occasions which had been poured into glasses which had lipstick marks around the tops. The staff apologised profusely, poured away the drink and replaced immediately. This was highlighted on our leaving questionnaire so we suspect this problem will be addressed. We did take our swimming costumes with us but did not use the pool/leisure facilities but we were assured by a family we met that they were fine and never too busy. They lived locally and were members of the gym at the hotel and attended five times a week. Overall, an extremely pleasant stay - generally in recent months we have learned not to build our hopes up when staying at hotels as we end up disappointed. This hotel could not be faulted on anything major at all. An excellent stay with excellent staff! Ten out of ten!
