"Fantastic hotel"
Our Holiday consisted of a week in Vienna then a week in Salzburg, both booked at Mariott Hotels,
The hotel in Vienna could easily be a 6* hotel, rooms where large comfertable, breakfasts plentiful, meals superb. Staff so helpful even asking if a room service cup of coffee was to our satisfaction.
Staff where pleasant, attentive and eager to help with anything.
There was an excellent tram service withing a few yards of the hotel that could take you to any attractions desired, also regular taxi's available outside the hotel.
withing a short wlaking distance where good resturants and shopping.
All in All a perfect holiday due to the hotel.

"Great hotel for everyone."
I arrived at the hotel close to midnight after taking the train into the city from the airport. The airport city train is 9euros each way and puts you into the middle of Vienna and a short walk or 5 euro cab ride from most of the major city hotels.
The hotel lobby is immaculate with a nice seating area by check in that serves as a nice waiting area. As I was checking in late there was no one at the desk but a ring of the bell and service was instant.
My room was quite small but typical for a European hotel. The room itself was comfortable and clean and overlooked the inner part of the hotel. Not much sunlight gets to the room but that's not a problem since I was away from the hotel for the vast majority of the day. The bed was huge and immensely comfortable, with so many pillows.
The bathroom was tiny but very clean. The products were plentiful and excellent and the towels were fluffy and also plentiful. My minor gripe was the quality of the TP and that sometimes the shower (which was good) ran hot and cold at times.
The bar was cosy although it wasn't clear where you could and couldn't smoke. The breakfast room overlooks the Stadtpark above the lobby area. The service is super efficient and deferential, not friendly but then that's not important to me. It is a little pricey, starting at 17euros, you're better off with the next level of buffet which is only 1.50euros more.
If you're planning on staying in Vienna with a car for a while i.e. more than a week, there is a car park beneath the hotel which will help you get a decent rate with in-out. The hotel can add the cost to your bill.
Overall this is one awesome hotel and the best Marriott I've ever stayed in.

"Luxury on the Ring"
The Marriott is an outstanding and comfortable hotel, but a few minor gripes come to mind. First the good (which is 95%): I am a Silver member, which isn't all that high on the chain. We recieved a very nice room, with a view of the Ring Rd and the Park. I requested extra pillows, and they were there waiting for us (Ye-haa!). The bed was extremely comfortable. The room was large by European standards. The staff was friendly, and the lobby was a comfortable place for a coffee and pastry. The location was perfect, close to absolutely everything.
Minor gripes: Breakfast wasn't included. We had just come from Munich, were it was included (Hilton) and AWESOME, so I was a little disappointed. The overall place is expensive...expensive mixed drinks (9 euros for a small vodka tonic??), expensive breakfast (we passed and went to a cafe for coffee and pastry...much better anyway), expensive newspapers, you get the picture. Another irritation: no coffee machine in the room, and short hours for free coffee in the mornings. (I realize 9am is not early, but for tourists, sometimes it's hard to get up, showered and dressed by 9 just to get a 2 ounce cup of coffee). Overall, minor stuff, but still....
I would recommend this hotel with the caveat that you go elsewhere for your newspaper, coffee, drinks, etc. But the important stuff is excellent: bed, bathroom, service, location, etc.
