LOCATION
Rama Gardens Hotel is close to the Airport in one direction, yet within easy distance of the city centre in the other- just 9 minutes from the airport and 30 minutes to downtown Bangkok.It is no secret that some unfortunate visitors to Bangkok can waste a day in travelling to their hotel from the Airport and then, at the end of their stay, have to suffer the anxiety of battling the traffic to try to meet their homeward flight.This Hotel does not offer free shuttle any longer,however, you can use the limo service or taxi to get there.

"Good hotel"
This hotel is quite close to the airport: It took about 15 minutes though this was at about 11pm. I didn't notice paint peeling, and I forgot to look to see if i was the only westerner, though I don't know why this is part of a hotel rating!
Taxis were VERY easy to get- all you have to do is walk 200 meters up the alley to the main road and the 2 times I needed a taxi it took less than 10 seconds to find one.
It is also about 5 -10 minutes away from Central Department Store which has loads of good shops food stalls etc.
Definately a good place to stop!

"It was great"
Stayed here June 19th 2006, in a delux room in the new part.More like a suite then aroom really enjoyed ,walk in shower, nice bath.Nice gardens, swimmingpool ok. Enjoyed staying at the hotel. It is also close to the airport, nice if you have a early flight in the morning. Breakfast starts from 5.30am.

"Good choice close to Bangkok Airport"
I stayed at the Rama Gardens 2 times in March 2006. It is less than 10 minutes from the Bangkok Airport and is a good choice if you need a modern hotel that is conveniently locate for catching early morning flights.
The lobby is large and looks good. There are two buildings and the condition of the rooms in each are somewhat different. The first time I stayed at the Rama Gardens I prebooked a room in their new wing. The room was spacious and beautiful. The bathroom was large and modern. My one complaint would be that the bed was quite hard.
A few days later I was passing through Bangkok and needed an airport hotel again. I decided to save about $20 and stay in the old wing. I was pleasantly surprised that the room was actually ok. The bed was softer and more comfortable than the one in the snazzy new wing. The room was plain but certainly clean. The most obvious contrast between the 2 rooms was that the bathroom in the old wing looked a little run down instead of modern and new.
Booking the hotel through a Bangkok travel agent will allow you to save considerably over the prices that the hotel will offer walk-in guests. You can also save on same-day bookings by using one of the hotel booking services located in the airport outside baggage claim. I think the best price was around US$60.
The hotel includes airport transfers and breakfast but I checked out before breakfast service began.
