"modern, comfortable, regal, friendly"
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Melia Recoleta Plaza for four nights in early April. I absolutely loved it and cannot wait to return one day.
The Melia is a brand new hotel - it is decorated as a classic upscale hotel, but you can tell everything is new. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The bellboys, the concierge, even the waiters at breakfast met our every need. The rooms are very comfortable: large beds with crisp white linens, a flat screen TV, charming furniture and a small sitting area. The bathroom was small but had everything we needed; we never felt cramped. The complementary breakfast was plentiful and included hot and cold dishes. The neighborhood is great! The Melia is just a block down from the famous Alvear Palace and a few blocks over from the Four Seasons. It was wonderful to walk around - day or night - and feel like you were both in the heart of the city and in a quiet neighborhood at the same time. Also, all the other guests spoke Spanish - I appreciated the local feel this gave the hotel (unlike other hotels where every guest spoke English and it felt like we were just back in the US).
Fabulous hotel. I highly recommend it.

"All the amenities of the Four Seasons - half the price! I Love This Hotel!"
Traveling without my husband, as part of a Buenos Aires tour, I had an apartment rented for me in the Recoleta, through our Tour Operator. The apartment proved to be a nightmare - drab, dirty, no amentities - whatsoever. Fortunately for me, The Recoleta Plaza Hotel was just steps away and within hours, I left my dreary apartment and wheeled my luggage to my new digs. What a find! The hotel is beautiful - marble floors, glass elevators, a large reception and lounge area for guests to mingle, an elegant bistro with great food; as well as a jazz club downstairs that doubles as the breakfast area in the mornings. Breakfast each day was a delight! Huge assortments of freshly baked pastries, fruit, cheeses and meats, cereals, yogurts, etc., as well as your choice of eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes, etc.
My standard room was fit for a queen. Spacious, elegant with a sitting area, writing desk, and a king size bed fitted with the softest, Egyptian cotton sheets, down comforter and six huge, fluffy pillows. There was a plasma television with a CD/DVD player, high-speed internet, a gorgeous, modern bathroom with two luscious bathrobes and slippers.
The staff was very helpful and polite. They suggested two wonderful restaurants in the neighborhood and made reservations for me both nights. They helped me several times with directions, translations, currency exchanges and made sure I was always called a "radio" cab. Of course it was lovely to return to my room at night, having my bed turned down with chocolates placed on top. My only regret was that I didn't have time to use the gym and spa services - They were beautiful.
This hotel has all the amenities of the Alvear or Four Seasons (both in the Recoleta) for AT LEAST HALF THE COST - and for me, the preferred intimacy of a "boutique" hotel. I will stay here whenever I have the opportunity to return to Buenos Aires!

"Enjoyed our stay at the Sol Melia Recoleta Plaza . . . ."
We just returned from a very pleasant stay at the Sol Melia Recoleta Plaza. Our room was beautiful, and the hotel is in a wonderful location, right in Recoleta, within walking distance to many great parts of the city. The nice thing about this hotel was that it was classy and luxurious, but also smaller, more of a boutique hotel . . . .great service, and very friendly and helpful staff. There is also a spa on the top floor which was great for a little relaxation. Higher price than other hotels in BA, but great value and we certainly had a pleasant stay. I think for the service, location and style -- the value is good. And, I recommend this hotel whole-heartedly to anyone!
