"Overlooks a lovely beach"
Just returned from a week at the hotel: July 2004. Hotel is in an excellent location. The style of the hotel and rooms are all very good. We did not have royal service but the service from ALL the staff was excellent. Royal service rooms are slightly larger and have a better view than the normal rooms which are already a good size. The pool is big and plenty of loungers and areas to sit both by the pool or on the grass in the gardens. Main pool is deep at 1.60M part at 1.40M. There is a small childrens pool. Food in 'a la carte' restaurant Alhambra is very good and priced accordingly. Buffet restaurant is ok with a very good selection. Expensive if not on half board. Also a lunch time restaurant : did not use so cannot comment but seened popular. Entertaining is a bit sparse Music whilst eating every night : Flamenco one night and singer another. The beach is excellent over 5 miles in length. It is very clean with loungers and a bar. The area in which the hotel is located is being developed. There is a 36 hole golf course within 200 metres. Also tennis complex nearby The hotel has its own golf course under construction. Other restaurants are nearby. Whole area nicely kept with a number of other hotels around. Very quiet report all low rise. Hight of hotels etc limited to 3 storeys. Overall highly recommended

"Great Beach"
Just returned, spent six nights with my wife before returning to Seville. Very nice location with long very clean beach to walk along, no bars along beach front therefore no rubbish/plastic bottles flying arround this well cared for stretch, also no high rise buildings. The hotel was excellent with pleasant and helpfull staff. I would suggest you make sure what room you shall be alocated at time of booking as options can be varied, i booked on Melia web site, when we arrived we where shown a room that overlooked the adjacent hotel at the side of the building, we requested a change to overlook the pool or sea front and where informed that these where "superior royal service" rooms and would cost us extra, we decided to go with this option to make our stay worth it. For the additional cost you basically get a free bar in a small room on ground floor and can have breakfast served in this room up untill 12.00pm, with free papers. If you are an alchoholic who is happy sitting in a small room on your own drinking and eating breakfast at miday (you have to have the drinks in this room) then the "superior royal service" is probably good value, however both myself and my wife like to see other people in the resturants/bars ect therefore did not use this option much. The food in the buffet was excellent, with a very varied and good quality selection, including a large selection of fresh local fish and seafood which is nice to find in large hotel. This is a very nice place to relax and put on some weight through over eating. We shall return when we have saved up enough money.

"pleasant stay in July'06"
Just spent 5 nights at the Grand Melia Sancti Petri. A great break for us (middle-aged couple, no children) thanks to great beach location, comfortable room, good food and very good service. Most guests were spanish, including many families.Children were never a nuisance though. Large pool area and very large beach Barossa never gets full, only noticeably busy on weekends between 4 and 8 pm. At about 350 Euro's a night incl breakfast it is fairly pricey but second half july is peak season. I would guess there are excellent deals in other months than july and august, especially september/october when the weather is still great and the seawater warm. The hotel has plenty of sunbeds/unbrellas by the pool and on the beach (a 100 meter walk over a wooden path through the dunes),drinks are also sold on the beach. We had so-called "royal service" which brings some extras such as breakfast and free drinks in a lseparate lounge area, but I think normal service would be just as good and somewhat cheaper. Taxis to Jadiz and jerez are in the 40-60 Euro range,so if you want to explore these great cities and the area, you may want to rent a car (book in advance!) All in all an excellent place.
