"Super 3 days"
We struggled through the snow to the hotel when the bus dropped us off at the docks instead of the Old Town. When we arrived the service was excellent, the room 305 which was at the back (as previously recommended) was excellent with King size double bed, and still plenty of room.
We had an international standard breakfast (available 7-10.30 each day) although if you were late down, the cooked breakfast was not too hot! Cheese ham and salmon were also available.
The service was good and we were away within 30 mins each day. Reception was extra good, finding out and offering us Romeo and Juliet ballet on Wednesday evening and the opera Tosca on Thursday at the Estonian National Opera. The hotel is located ~50 metres from the Town Hall square which is the hub of the old town, an 13-14th century well preserved area.
The hotel KN restaurant looked too 'nouvelle cuisine' for our taste so we tried and can recommend 3 traditional restaurants almost next door. At Kuldse Notsa Korts (just 2-3 doors up from the hotel) I had roe deer. At The Peppersack (100m) I had beef fillet, and Olde Hansa (less than 100m) I had wild boar. Shame we did not have more time! We took up the recommendation to get Thallin cards (for 48hrs cost for 400 EEK each) which gave us free entry to Museums, the Kadriorg Palace/Art Gallery, and 2 City Tours (Red and Blue line) plus shopping discounts. We also received a free programm at the Opera, and discounts at the restaurants. This is all explained in the 2007 Thallin Card booklet that we got when deciding to get a card. Provided you come prepared with extra fleeces, long johns, thick gloves, scarves and woolly hats, the February winter, down to -10F in the day and -20F at night was not a problem. We hope to come again.

"Amazing hotel and location"
The Merchant's House Hotel is the most fantastic location one could hope for in Tallinn. The hotel itself is amazing and the manager, Jonathan, was so helpful. He sourced some beautiful lillies for the room and had some champagne on ice as requested. We stayed in a room overlooking the courtyard which was generally quiet and very pleasant to sit in.
The restaurant was excellent value and the food was a nice combination of modern European and traditional Estonian, and the Ice Bar was a good point from which to start a night out. The hotel was refershingly free from the ubiquitous stag party which was another positive. I would stongly recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of visiting Tallinn. The location is excellent and the staff are very accommodating.

"More excellent feedback for the Merchant's House"
We booked the Merchant's House on the strength of Tripadvisor reviews, and as usual we were not disappointed. The hotel is in an ideal position - close to the main square in the old town, but tucked up a quiet side street. We are a bit paranoid about noise but had no problems at all.
The staff were friendly and efficient, the rooms were well furnished, spacious, and comfortable, and the breakfasts were generous. We ate once in the hotel restaurant and thought it was a little expensive both in terms of quantity and quality - a 'julienne of vegetables' consisted of a pile of sliced carrots, and 'mediterranean vegetables' were two small nearly raw boiled potatoes, two slices of courgette and a piece of carrot! On the other evenings we ate in Turg (just off the main square), which was OK but nothing special, and in a restaurant more or less next door to the hotel - can't remember the name, but it was very good.
We also tried out the massage treatments, which were reasonably priced and very enjoyable.

"lovely!"
Hotel is LOVELY! It has a fantastic location and in our room (standard double), there was very wide (180cm) double bed. Only bad thing was that the wasn't the shower curtain in our bathroom. Breakfast room was lovely and breakfast was quite a good.
I can really recommend this hotel!

"...a relaxing, peaceful and pleasant stay"
My husband and I stayed at the Merchant’s House Hotel for a two-night weekend break in November 2006. We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and in Tallinn. The hotel is conveniently located about a 2-minute walk away from the main town hall square, which hosted the small Christmas market. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and coffee shops close by.
The hotel décor is lovely with nice furniture. Our room was an executive double at the back of the hotel on the third floor, overlooking the courtyard. I specifically asked for this after reading reviews that there was some noise from the streets at the front of the hotel. Our room was very peaceful with a nice view of the courtyard. It was clean and nicely decorated. The heated floor in the bathroom is a nice touch and dries the floor quickly after a shower. The room had a large comfy bed, flat-screen TV, air conditioning, electric heater, hairdryer, toiletries in the bathroom and plenty of wardrobe space.
We had a good dinner in the hotel’s restaurant. There was a good choice at breakfast too.
Staff were efficient, friendly and spoke good English.
The hotel is right opposite the Beer House, which was a bonus. Nice atmosphere in there and good beer and food.
Overall, a relaxing, peaceful and pleasant stay at the Merchant’s House Hotel.

"Fabulous Romantic Break"
Just returned from a fab weekend in Tallinn. On arrival we were greeted with by our first glimpse of the Christmas market, which was literally on the door step of the hotel.
I'd requested an early check in, which was granted and also a room overlooking the courtyard after reading trip advisor reviews. Not only did we get a courtyard room, we were upgraded to a suite with our own log fire and sauna! The hotel has a real intimate feel, with added touches of luxury and really polite and friendly staff. The breakfast was scrummy with plenty of choice of Estonian, continental and cooked food. Stumbling distance from the Beer House, a stroll from the main Square and within easy reach of all the main sites, this hotel is a perfect choice.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
