"Good choice"
We stayed at this hotel for a week-end beginning of september. We were happy with this choice. The hotel style is not like any standard Mercure hotel. The decoration is really nice. The lobby looks like it's been renovated recently. Our room was small but comfortable. I had phoned reception in the morning of our arrival to ask for a non smoking room which we got even on late checking. The breakfast was good and offered quite a good choice of bread, or fresh fruits. The location of the hotel was quite central eventhough not right in the heart of the touristic area. The great thing is that there is a underground stop + tramstop just outside. That would take you anywere very quickly (Transport seemed reliable and really cheap). And finally, price (booked from accor website) was reasonable and included breakfast.

"Great Hospitality, Wonderful Location"
We chose the Mercure Nemzeti on our family package tour purchased from Gate1 Travel (an excellent package tour company - [--] - three tour packages in the past two years - Prague, Istanbul and Budapest). It was a slight upgrade over the base rate but well worth it (also recommended by our excellent guide, Gabriella [-] who conducted us on two half day walking tours of the city - book her, she is knowledgable, personable and with infectuous energy and enthusiasm!). Our family - 4 college students and three older folks - spent Thanksgiving in Budapest, a time when the weather was mild and there were few tourists. The staff at the hotel was cordial and responsive to several emails requesting specific accommodations (we recommend rooms on the 5th (top) floor overlooking the interior courtyard) and guidance on in-city and beyond travel (when we arrived, they presented us with more than a dozen pages of material they had downloaded from a variety of websites). The rooms were good size (larger than most European accommodations) and well appointed. The beds were great - solid and firm (my wife compared it to our own at home). Bathrooms were relatively roomy and clean (as the manager was taking me up on the elevator to see our rooms before assigning them (a nice touch), a guest from the UK volunteered that the showers were great - he was right!). The breakfast was plentiful and tasty but not particularly special - scrambled eggs, meat and potatos; cheeses and salami; fruit and juices; cereal and Danish; and pots of coffee on the table. The location is superb as the hotel is situated on one of Pest's main thoroughfares with a major tram stop and the metro just steps from the front entrance. We were a modest walk or short taxi away from great restaurants every evening. We will return to the Mercure Nemzeti on our next visit to Budapest, a city that deserves more than four days!

"Classy Hotel Nemzeti!"
This hotel, located on the Pest side, is nicely appointed. It was built around 1900 and still retains its elegant flair from the past. If you like hotels that still have the charm of yesteryear, this is the place. My group stayed at this hotel in November, 2005, and from the moment you enter the Hotel Nemzeti (part of the Mercure Hotel chain), you will be impressed with its elegant lobby (i.e., gold leaf columns). The large dining room (used for breakfast) is beautiful with a huge stained-glass ceiling. The breakfast offers many items from cereals to eggs to sausages to cheeses to breads to fresh fruit. The rooms, although a little on the small side but typical for Europe, were very nice. The bathroom was exceptional although the water pressure could have been better. The hotel is located not to far from many of the sights you come to Budapest for (15 to 30 minutes by walking). The rates are reasonable, too, compared to similar hotels in Budapest. Be sure to request a room that does not face the busy noisy street. I would definitely consider staying here again!

"great vacation"
Me and my wife stayed at the hotel for 7 nights and were very satisfied from every thing. The service and hospitality were great, the rooms are big and well equipped, breakfast was great and dinner the same, the location is great too and the price was reasonable as well. We will of course recommend this hotel.
