"Great location, great price" I blindly booked this hotel through American Express knowing little more than the approximate location. All I knew is that it had to be better than the miserable villa that I was staying at with a bunch of loud and obnoxious friends 30km outside of Avignon. It was so much better than I could have hoped. The location was prime to all Avignon sight-seeing and shopping. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I had such a lovely time that I decided to stay an extra night. One caution: There is another Mercure Hotel very nearby--unlike this one, it is accessible from the parking structure for the Cite des Papes. I went there first accidentally and though they kindly gave me directions to my hotel, the twists and turns are confusing and it's easy to get lost. I'd happily stay here again should I return to Avignon.

"Fantastic location and ambience" My husband and I stayed for 7 nights at the Mercure Cite des Papes in Avignon, celebrating our anniversary. The location was absolutely perfect, the staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was plentiful and tasty, we wished we could have stayed longer. Our view overlooking the carousel and the opera house could not have been more charming! We would definitely (and will) return to this hotel when we are once again in Avignorn. Highly recommended!
