"Visit to the Josefshof"
We took a risk and booked the Josefshof over the Internet without having too much prior information about it. It is actually in a great location, just behind the Parliament in a very safe area and close to all transport links. The room was basic but bright and airy and overlooking a central courtyard. Breakfast (optional) was disappointing - bland selection at the buffet - but apart from that I would highly recommend it in terms of vaue for money and location. We had a great holiday in Vienna for a very modest price.

"Great Hotel - if you can get a good deal"
I recently stayed at the Josefshof for a quick trip to Vienna. While I did see the scaffolding that other people have written about, I did not have any complaints with noise or the room.
The room was very big for a European hotel room. It had nice wood floors and a very large and well appointed bathroom with a huge bath tub. I didn't try the breakfast which they charged 13euro per person.
The location of the hotel was slightly outside the very center of the city on a quiet side street. The hotel is only one block from the rathouse subway stop which made it easy to get everywhere I wanted to go very quickly - no cabs needed. I would recommed it.

"Great Hotel - if you can get a good dealk"
I recently stayed at the Josefshof for a quick trip to Vienna. While I did see the scaffolding that other people have written about, I did not have any complaints with noise or the room.
The room was very big for a European hotel room. It had nice wood floors and a very large and well appointed bathroom with a huge bath tub. I didn't try the breakfast which they charged 13euro per person.
The location of the hotel was slightly outside the very center of the city on a quiet side street. The hotel is only one block from the rathouse subway stop which made it easy to get everywhere I wanted to go very quickly - no cabs needed.
The only complaints that I have are that I thought that the price was a little expensive and didn't include breakfast and that the staff were not always friendly. We tried to extend our stay by one night and the staff were not very helpful. Since we had originally booked the hotel on their website, they would not give us the same rate if we extended the stay. Instead, they said that we needed to book the extra night online but could not guarantee that we would have the same hotel room - and may have to pack up our luggage because checkout from the first room was at 12 but checkin for the new room wasn't until 2:30. So- with all the hassle, we decided not to extend the stay.
Overall I recomend the Josefshof - try to get a good internet rate.
