"Fantastic location" I booked this hotel directly through their website and got an advance booking rate of 75 euro per night for a Friday and Saturday night. We arrived at the hotel late on the Friday but were up to our room in less than 5 minutes. Other reivewers are right, there is only one small lift but we only ever caught it with our luggage and never had to wait long. Our room was tastefully decorated and had a double bed, cabinet containing minibar and tv, a stool for your suitcase and a desk with chair. The room itself was small however the bathroom was ENORMOUS, the same size as the room. Both the bedroom and the bathroom had doors that opened onto a small balcony area. Breakfast is not included and is an extra 13.50 per person. We did not have the hotel breakfast the first day and had it in our room on the second. Recieved a large basket of croissants, pastries and pain au chocolat, yoghurt, fruit, bagguetes and spreads. Was very nice and plentiful for two adults. This hotel has a fantastic location. It is right in the heart of Lille with the old town, the grand place and the opera house just steps away. It's convenient location ment we were able to stop back frequently to rest our legs. Would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

"Best location and price" I stayed here on a Saturday night in May 06. The service was excellent. We checked in very quickly and were in our room in no time! We got a good rate - 75 euros per night, booked on the Mercure website. The view from the room is great - we had a view onto Boulevard Carnot, and with a twist of the neck we had a lovely view orf the Place du Theatre. I emailed the hotel at the time I booked because I had a car and wanted to know if I could park at the hotel. I got a very prompt reply, saying that the hotel didn' t have parking but that the Vinci Opera Parking was a mere 50m down the street. To my surprise, when I checked in the lady at the desk asked me if I had found the parking okay, as she noted I had sent them a query. I was impressed with the follow-up. Our room was was quite small, but it was clean and well-kept. I would stay here again because the location is perfect. I had considered staying at the Crowne Plaza but it is a bit further away from the centre of town, about a 10 minute walk from the Mercure.

"Beautiful and Friendly" My partner and I stayed at the Lille Centre Opera for 3 nights in July. We found the staff to be helpful and friendly, most spoke excellent English. The hotel was in keeping with the style of the town centre (beautiful outer facade and staircases) and the rooms were fully equipped and tastefully decorated. You really felt part of old Lille in this hotel. The breakfast buffet was good value and extensive. Overall a very satisfying stay, highly recommended.

"Excellent Hotel" Just returned from a short city break in this hotel. Very good position, close to centre of Lille. Service excellent. Room very clean and comfortable. Very good breakfast. Weather very cold during stay but hotel lovely and warm to return to!
