"Wonderful stay!" Me and my mum planned a trip to paris. Our travel agent suggested us the Mercure Montmartre. When we got there, we couldn't believe that this hotel was 3, instead of 4, star hotel. It is a nice, well mantained building, modern enough with many conforts. Our room was double twin with a great view of Eiffel Tower. Beds were ok, bathrooms very well equiped and also very clean. Breakfast was a little bit poor but richer than the breakfast tha I take when I am at home. Its location is very convenient. The subway station is 2 min walk from the hotel and the bus station (where we took the bus "95" that goes to the most important places of paris) is one minute walk only! Despite that mass transportation means were very close to the hotel, I preferred to walk as distances to some important and central locations (Opera,Galleries Lafayette) weren't far at all, even on foot. At nights, I loved visiting the famous area of Montmartre, where u can see Paris from a great view. Montmartre is a great place where french artists are gothered and make portraits and caricatures of visitors. Generally, the Hotel is higly recommended for its nice location, for its spacious bedrooms, its shiny clean bathroom and its eager to help stuff.

"A really wonderful and relaxing stay" The hotel is excellent! I am a greek student in the Athens University and travelled in a group with a travel agency in Paris. I stayed from 6/8/2005 to 12/8/2005 in the fourth floor in an one-bed room which was really large for just one person. The view from the fourth floor is a 19th century building opposite the hotel, the sky and of course the rue Caulaincourt. The reception was polite and helpful, my room (twin one-bed) and bathroom was very clean every day, the towels changed every day. The decoration is simple and relaxing. The orange and brown colour dominate in the floor as well as in the room I stayed. Every floor pays tribute to a famous french painter. The fourth floor is dedicated to Gaugin, so in my room there was a copy from a picture of his. The security is excellent. Every door opens only with a magnetic card. When you are inside the room, you can lock it from inside, so no one can enter. When you are outside, you must have the card. The hotel is situated in Montmartre and is within walking distance from the nearest metro and bus station. The buses 68, 80 and 95 are the best for sightseeing. I had a wonderful time in Paris during this week, I enjoyed walking, shopping and sightseeing and I totally recommend the said hotel.

"Easy access to everywhere" The hotel shares the site with an Ibis and a car park. Underground is a DIY store. Sounds like hell but think again. It's just off the Place De Clichy and around the corner from the Moulin Rouge. There is a Metro station (13) less than 30 yards down the street. It is clean and tidy. Our bedroom had double doors so there no noise from other rooms. The bedroom is reasonable and has a safe in the wardrobe. There is also a minibar but as you would expect the prices are high. All the staff were very pleasant and all reception staff spoke English. The restaruant is small and mainly for Breakfasts. It's on the 1st floor. If you are there at weekends try to be early as it does get very busy. The only thing I had to ask for another pillow, which was delivered with 5 minutes of asking. The TV has 3 english channels; Eurosport, CNN and BBC World. Not the best but in paris who stays in their room. There are plenty of places to eat from MacDonalds/KFC/Quick to Hippopotamus (steak house) to Wepler. Our favour was Welper which has excellent sea food although we did not find anywhere that didn't serve good food. The area is busy at all time as there are two cinemas. The area around the Moulin Rouge is a bit shady so beware is you go there at night. It is surrounded by sex shops and bars. Don't get me wrong I still felt OK but I would not take children there. If you want to stock up with supplies there are a few small supermarkets and general stores nearby. The car park next door is 20 euros a day. Its well lit and safe. Its open 24 /24 but remember to take your ticket with you as you will need the code from it to get back in as the doors have keypads. A street map which has bus/metro details was available free of charge from reception.
