"Graet Hotel, excellent location"
Stayed with my wife in Feb 07. This has to be one of the cleanest & finest hotels I have stayed in anywhere in the world. Good value too. Great location, 10 minutes from the two main squares. As has been said the recepcionist are miserable, but all other staff are excellent. I would recommend to anyone.

"Good Location"
Having just recently returned from Prague ,I can echo most of the reviews already written. The location is just steps away from Namesty Republicki but is very quiet. The trams were not running account construction but we had a room facing into the courtyard. the staff is effecient but not overly friendly. i did not eat at the hotel but if you do not take the breakfast option ,the restaurant across the street does breakfast ,it also does lunch and dinner i think its call Dinnitz.
If you leave the hotel and turn left the next block over there is a grocery store, its in the basement ,there is also an internet location there. Also if you turn left from the hotelat the next corner at zlatnicka4 there is a restaurant/bar reasonable and good food and the staff was very friendly in fact it was our neighbourhood pub for our 5 days in Prague
We were very impressed with Prague ,all the restaurants we ate offered good value and the service was excellent and yes the price of pivo(beer) varies greatly.

"Excellent choice"
Just returned from a three night stay at the Mercure. The hotel is bright and clean, and central to everything. It is situated a few minutes walk from Old Town Square, but in a quiet area, Na Porici Street.
Rooms are average size, but clean and quiet, with double glazing. Bathroom was small, with shower only, no bath. Building work going on next door, but no disturbance noticeable. Breakfast was varied with hot or cold choice, or both!
The immediate area is quiet, but cafes and restaurants close by. Everything is in walking distance, so no real need for public transport.
For a pleasant morning, take a walk over the Charles Bridge, up Nerudova Street (quite hilly) to the park at the top of the street. An amazing view of the city. Have a drink in the brewery and check out the few shops and the artists in the park. Walk back down by the park and check out the castle on the way.
Franz Kafka worked here from 1908-1922 and we were given his former office (now room 214 on the second floor) which was very nice.
A good choice for the first time visitor to Prague.

"Excellent Hotel"
Stayed at this hotel in Old Town for 2 nights - Loved everything about the place. The hotel staff was very helpful, the buffet breakfast was awesome and the location of the hotel could not have been better. We were travelling with an infant and they provided us with a great crib. My husband was thrilled when he realized that Franz Kafka actually used to work on the same floor as us at one time. Parking was expensive (~$30 per night), but we heard that its better to not take chances with your car in Prague. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.

"Excellent hotel in an ideal location"
We stayed at this hotel as a family for three nights in October 2006. Although there are no interconnecting rooms we emailed ahead to request adjoining rooms which was arranged without problem. The hotel is a tasteful conversion of a beautiful building on the edge of the old town. Although convenient for public transport we walked everywhere as all the sights were within easy reach. The rooms are not large but are well appointed, and whilst the bathrooms are fitted out to a high standard, they only have a shower and not a bath. There is a massive construction site next door but once in the hotel you are totally unaware of this as there is no intrusive noise at all. The staff at the front desk were efficient and friendly even at busy times. We felt the breakfast, unusually in a city centre hotel, was good value as a full cooked breakfast was provided with bacon, eggs etc together with a continental alternative so we did not bother looking elsewhere. The hotel's obvious popularity has sadly resulted in a significant increase in the room rate since a previous visit 3 years ago, but even at the £115 per room including breakfast which we paid we thought it good value for money. For those wishing to avoid Prague taxi drivers, the Cedaz airport shuttle minibus picks up just round the corner. All in all this is an excellent hotel ideally placed for exploring the city on foot and offers good value for money.

"Great Location"
If you want a perfect central location look no further than this hotel. It is clean and has undergone some extensive refurbishment. which is always nice to see as some hotels after a time can look very tired and need refreshing. The breakfast buffet was great an extensive choice from a cooked breakfast to the usual croissants yogurts cheese ham & fruit etc. The hotel staff were very friendly and they even after an email from us arranged a taxi for us to pick us up from the airport and take us back. They spoke very good english which is always great for us Brits!
We would definatley go back should we ever visit Prague. We hope everyone that goes enjoys their stay as much as us.
If you like Italian food a great place to go is The Ambiente on Celetna number 11 you must have the tortellini with pears and walnuts and the chocolate desserts it is to die for!!!!

"Highly recommended"
This is an excellent hotel in a central location. The rooms are not huge but are very tastefully decorated, along with the rest of the hotel, and there are luxurious touches like speakers for the TV in the bathroom and a very strong power-shower, perfect after you've been walking round Prague all day! I didn't eat breakfast in the hotel so I can't comment, but would highly recommend that you have at least one breakfast in the fabulous art nouveau setting of the Town House (Obecni dum) 2 minutes walk up the road. It was much cheaper than in the hotel! There is some building work going on next door to the hotel, but the most you could say about it is that it's unsightly - in terms of noise we were completely unaffected. Overall, good value for money, but yes the minibar prices were exorbitant so I steered clear, and though I didn't see the breakfast my immediate thought was that it must be overpriced compared to cafes in town.

"Great Location"
I booked this Hotel as part of an Air Miles package so it is difficult to compare on a price basis. I did look at other Hotels but opted for the Mercure in view of its location. I am glad I did as it was within easy walking distance of Old Town Square as well as being close to a Metro station. We got everywhere very easily.
The Hotel staff were excellent, particularly Pavla, the concierge, with whom I exchanged e-mails before we left. She was so helpful and arranged the Hotel Taxi to meet us at the airport. Even though our flight was an hour late the taxi was waiting for us. Breakfast was very busy but again the staff were impressive and everything was dealt with most efficiently and with happy smiling faces.
I would highly recommend this Hotel. Even though it is a chain operation, they seem to have got every thing right.

"Fantastic stay"
My Fiancee and I went to Prague for a short break and to be honest we weren't sure what to expect of Prague and of the Hotel.
However the Hotel was in an excellent location, and certainly lives up to its 4 stars. The staff were friendly and helpful, the accommodation was perfect and the evening meal was excellent.
We will definitely be back next year!
