"Enjoyed my stay there"
Stayed there for 5 days from July to August 2007. The room's clean and the room size's reasonable. There's also a safe in the room. My room faced the Hilton so I had a little view of the top of La Tour Eiffel. I just couldn't quite understand why they separated the toilet and the tub into two rooms. There's also no coffee-making machine. The staff were very friendly, helpful and cheerful - except one female staff member who looked annoyed when I asked her the location of the closest post office; obviously she was not in a good mood! But others were very, very nice and helpful. Most of them can speak good English but there're some who can't understand any English. I had a hard time trying to tell them what I meant in my extremely broken French.

"Great location"
We just spent 4 days at this Hotel and it is in a great neighborhood. Very close to the Eiffel Tower and it has a lot of reasonably priced restaurants and stores all around it. Even a great bakery and small grocery store which is great to buy snacks at, since the stuff in the hotel is stupidly expensive. Even the Metro is only a block away. The rooms were a good size and kept very clean. The only thing that we didn't like is the fact there wasn't any complimentary tea or coffee in the rooms like there is in English hotels and our room didn't have a bathtub, just a walk in shower. We got free breakfast with our stay. While the food was good, there wasn't a huge choice. We were used to having a big English breakfast. All in all I would stay there again just because of the location.

"Superb location, good hotel"
I stayed one night during a business trip to Paris. I booked through priceline.com and got a room for just 105 EUR, buffet breakfast included. Hotel location is magnific! It's literally 300 meters away from the Eiffel Tower, near to both metro station and the Seine river. It's just next door to the Paris Hilton. The lobby is mid-size, clean and bright. Front staff is kind and ready to help. I arrived two hours earlier than check-in time and still got my room (double room even though I was alone, superb!). The hotel is officially a 4*, but I agree with Tripadvisor which rates it 3*. In fact, rooms are nice but not luxurious. They are adequate anyway, with in-room safe, sat-tv, and wi-fi internet (less than 10 eur per 24 hours access, not too much at all if you have to work!). Bathroom was nice: separate wc and bathtub (quite big); hairdrier was surprisingly of good quality, not the usual low-power one that takes hours to dry your hair up! :) Buffet breakfast was very good. Not too much choice, but th quality of food offered was excellent. Both american breakfast dishes and continental ones were available. Pastries were of fantastic quality, as well as the delicious cheeses. All in all, I would reccomend this hotel to other people, provided that you can get a good deal and don't pay the steep 200+ EUR per night that the website advertise.

"Great hotel"
I decided to take a few days to get out of London and unwind in Paris via Eurostar - so avoiding the air travel delays. I deliberately chose this hotel because I was intrigued by some of the previous, unfavourable reviews. However, I found the staff were exceptionally friendly and the service excellent. My room was very clean, comfortable and air-conditioned to the point of being chilled on arrival. This hotel is great for a leisure visit like mine - a block away from the Tour d'Eiffel (fantastic late evening and day visits) or for exploring the Rive Gauche, although the Line 6 Metro stop is just around the corner so anywhere in Paris is just minutes away. There's a large number of cafes, bistros and restaurants nearby if you want a change from hotel food (although there's certainly nothing wrong with the Mercure's). Breakfast was superb and although no chef was on hand (this is a 3 star) there was a very comprehensive buffet - even an electric egg boiler so I could time my own 3 minute egg! The Paris Hilton is next door and although I'm a Hilton Diamond Card holder and always enjoy my stay at Hiltons world-wide, I reckon this Mercure offers exceptionally good value. P.S. - I always find in Paris that if you initiate a conversation in French i.e just plain 'Bonjour Monsieur / Madame... merci... c'est bon... au revoir ' will do...Parisians invariably answer in English !! It's all part of the game! - Paris is still one of the best cities in the whole world for seriously chilling out, enjoying la vie en rose and having the time of your life.

"Stay here if you can"
Got this hotel as part of an air + hotel deal. Frankly, we can't usually afford to stay anyplace so nice, preferring the 2-star hotels instead. Before going, I read the TripAdvisor reviews and wondered what we were getting into -- now I wonder how anyone could complain! Location: right next to the Hilton, 2 blocks to the Eiffel Tower, 2 blocks to the Metro (which will take you anywhere you want to go, contrary to what other reviewers say about needing the RER), around the corner from (for us budget travelers) a little superette, a boulangerie/patisserie and a slew of restaurants. Room: big double, very clean, plenty of space to lounge around, a hot shower with good water pressure, a separate water closet. Food: they have two levels of breakfast and apparently can't keep track of which guests are entitled to which, so on some days we got a really good breakfast (eggs, meat, cheese, bread, fruit, yogurt, cereals, etc., juices and coffee) and some days we got a really GREAT breakfast (same stuff but better quality). Service: very polite and accomodating -- honored our request for a non-smoking double at no extra charge and honored our request to stay out of our room for the duration of our stay; mono-lingual English speakers would not have a problem. I'd stay again, if I could get another good deal.
