"Good base from which to enjoy Tallinn"
A large modern hotel just outside the old town walls. Spacious rooms which were warm, comfortable and clean. Huge deep bath. The bathroom floor tiles appeared to be heated.
Everyone remarks about Souza who was very friendly. We saw him twice around town on his days off and he greeted us with the same warm smile. I understand the 3rd and 4th floors are refurbished non-smoking floors so try and request rooms on this level. We stayed on the 4th. The bar at the top foor is now a conference room so you won't be able to go and have a drink there and see the viewas mentioned in other reviews, but the lobby bar downstairs is fine for a drink.
Huge breakfast and good, discreet, genuine service all round makes this hotel an excellent base to explore Tallinn. Get the Tallin Card for the duration of your stay. You can buy it at reception and it seems to pay for itself on day 1 if you do the hop on hop off bus tour.
Loved the downstairs pub at the Scandic St Barbara which was a 10 minute walk from our hotel. It was Tallinn "pub of the year 2005" and served great food at really good prices.

"Grand in name, grand in nature"
We stayed 3 nights iin the Grand, right on the edge of the old town. Super views from the spacious bedroom. The hotel is to a high international standard. Staff are exceptionally helpful and efficient. Food is buffet style with great variety to suit all tastes. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Tallinn.

"Good hotel"
The hotel is renovated and one of the main hotels in Tallinn. It has a wonderful view on the Toopuiee Hill and Houses of Parliament. The lobby is good and the rooms are large and very clean. The breakfast is diverse and of good quality. Staff adequate and multilingual.
Still, it is visited by mainly older group travellers or business men. Do not expect a cosy intimate atmosphere. If you like group tours walking around with guides with numbered boards, this is the hotel.
