"The Metropolitan Hotel is Great"
I liked the location of the hotel in a quiet neighborhood, away from downtown which can be very noisy. The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle service to and from the center of town on a regular basis. My
room was very clean and comfortable and the bathroom was a nice size.
There are several good tavernas within easy walking distance. I was there with friends and we all agreed we would return to the Metropolitan Hotel in a heart beat!

"Thanks"
I would like to thank all the staff for making our stay with you so enjoyable - we found the hotel very convenient because we could travel easily travel into the city centre or to the various beaches near Athens.

"Excellant Choice"
Stayed here for 5 nights whilst on business in May 05. I travel quite a lot on business and am usually hard to please with hotels finding many faults! However….I really could not fault the Metropolitan in any way.
The Metropolitan is both a hotel used by business people and tourists, European, British, American and Asian (Thailand Airways Air crew use the Metropolitan for e.g.) There were many Americans there who seemed to be with tour operators (Insight & Grand Circle Tours) who obviously use this hotel as a base for island hopping and cruise excursions.
I found the previous mixed review somewhat surprising, and I would tend to disagree with most of what was written, except for the comments about the corridors. So i agree, they could do with a spring clean!
I pre-arranged with the hotel for a taxi to collect me from the airport, which they did efficiently and on time. The Hotel has good size comfortable rooms, Sat TV, AC and double glazed windows (which could also do with a clean!) good storage space and very comfy beds, crisp clean white linen sheets pillows and duvet. Nearly all hotels ask you to reuse towels you haven’t used, by hanging them up on the racks, this is common practice at all major hotels I have ever stayed in. The bathrooms were of good size, and decent bath & shower, décor, marble, white ceramic, the complimentary toiletries were all “Molton Brown” which is a well known good quality and fairly expensive brand (in the UK at least!) and there were plentiful supplies of these restocked daily. The one real nice touch I thought was that whilst I was out late (very late!) for dinner one night, a maid had obviously been in to my room and had closed my windows, drawn the curtains, turned on the AC and turned back the duvet cover, also leaving me a little card which gave me the weather forecast for the day to come!
I only ate at the Hotel during breakfast, which was always busy, good food choice across the board, English/American & continental breakfast choices. The hotel bar was always fairly quiet. We had one drink there, no atmosphere and was expensive.
Beware tho, the mini bar was VERY expensive, so avoid, i.e. a small bottle of mineral water cost my company €4.20! that’s extortionate by anybody’s reckoning?
(Small) Pool and sun roof terrace were good, if you get the weather, we didn’t! However the views of the City from the roof terrace are exceptional.
I found the Hotel staff helpful and courteous, On checking out I asked them to itemize my phone calls and although they couldn’t do it on the spot, by the time I had arrived back at my office in London 8 hours later, a fax had arrived detailing all my calls. The rooms also have 1mb ADSL/Broadband connection for your laptops, which was the first I have come across. The hotel also had an “internet café” for only €5 per 30mins usage.
Although the location of the hotel is a little outside the city centre its not a problem and is actually more desirable (ok yes its still noisy with a busy 4 lane highway to one side). But the hotel itself is in a quiet southern suburb with some nice local tavernas. We particularly enjoyed Arsenis (lots of locals frequent this place), about a 5 min walk away. We found a large supermarket close by also, which came in handy.
Take the hotel courtesy bus to Syndagma Square, trip takes 15mins, and is a reliable free service to use for all your sightseeing/shopping needs from 0815 thru 2130 daily. Taxi’s, tho perfectly safe, were a bit of a lottery, we took a cab ride back late one night and the driver took the long route and charged us (un-metered) €10 (which is still cheap for UK prices), however, when we took a taxi which did use the meter it came to less than €3!
One thing not to miss when you’re at this hotel is to visit the “Planetarium” (Eugenides Foundation), which is literally over the road from the hotel. Having been to London Planetarium, the one here in Athens was far superior; using state of the art 3D Digital technology, with a long 30 min show covering Greek mythology/history and the stars/planets. Kids and adults alike will sit back and marvel in awe!
To sum up; would I stay here again?, yes definitely, but only if on business or a short city break, because I think its too expensive for a long family holiday. Would I recommend it?, Yes, 100% for sure, it’s a great clean modern and efficient hotel with everything you could need. Try it.

"Big Hotel"
Big Hitel, about 15min bus ride from centre of Athens. There is a regular free shuttle bus, both ways, but on occaison it can fill up very quick and you must wait for the next one or pay for a taxi. Popular with tour groups. excellent breakfatsts, very busy. Regular hotel rooms. A few restaurants in walking distance otherwise must catch bus into town - last bus to return back to hotel 9:30pm.

"Great Hotel"
My wife and I stayed at the Athens Metropolitan Hotel 3 different times during the month of September and each stay was great. The staff was friendly and helpful and we found the rooms very clean and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a great selection of hot and cold food. The Greek yogurt and Greek honey was the very best! The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle bus between the hotel and the center of town. We discovered two very good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel-------Arsenis and Kythera. Both offer excellent Greek food at good prices and they had menus printed in English as well as Greek. When we return to Greece and we hope that it will be in the near future we will definately return to the Athens Metropolitan Hotel!!

"Great place"
WOW. We traveled all over Greece for 2 weeks and nothing else came close to being this luxurious. The rooms were modern, everything new, clean, comfortable, a/c. Dining was very good as well, best breakfast we had in any Greek hotels. Only thing is it is a bit far away from downtown attractions, so you will need to cab it or rent a car.

"Great choice"
We just returned from our trip to Athens and Greek Isle cruise. The first four nights we spent at the Metropolitan Hotel. It was fabulous!! Very modern, clean and luxurious. Plush down comforters on the bed, granite countertops in the bathroom, nice wood work and details throughout. Very nice fitness center with all of the equipment and free weights you need. Rooftop pool w/lounge chairs and towels were a nice touch. View from the rooftop is amazing on a clear day. Hotel seemed to cater more to the "business traveler", but the front desk staff was helpful at recommending area restaurants and giving advice on city attractions and how much a taxi would cost us to get there. My "better half" teases me about being so picky when it comes to hotel rooms. No complaints about this one. Loved it!
