"Great value for money"
We got this hotel as part of a deal with our BA flights from London on a 4 day visit. Our requirements were for something in the city and not too expensive, which is precisely what it is. Yes the room was small, the lifts involved a lot of waiting around and the view was non-existant, but the location is fantastic and all you need is somewhere to sleep. There are plenty of inexpensive places to eat within a short walk and we got tickets for a hop-on, hop-off tour bus which has a stop nearby, which was a good way to get around and see the sights.
We hope to return to this great city one day and will certainly consider staying at the same hotel.

"Great hotel!!"
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Milford Plaza during Easter this year and it was great! I had read some of the other reviews on this site in advance and to be honest, I was a bit discouraged by some of the things people had to say, but as it turned out, my worries were for nothing.
Our room was on the 23rd floor and absolutely great! True, it was quite small, but unless you need a ballroom to fall asleep in, you should be fine... We had a great view, nice decor, it was clean, had lots of fresh towels and lots of hot water - true the bathroom is small, but hey, are you going to spend A LOT of time there? The bed was comfortable and there were extra pillows and covers in the drawer. We also had an iron and ironing board in the closet.
We had a TV and the possibility to play play station (not that we did though...)..
There were some complaints on this site that the elevators were extremely slow - I really disagree - we had no problems with them at all!
The location could not be better! Just off Time square and in walking distance to everything!
Staff could perhaps be a bit friendlier, but we didn't have much contact with them, so...
In sum, I would recommend this hotel to everyone (- perhaps not to families with children though...) and if you want to be sure to get a nice room, ask for 1306 - that's where we stayed and we both loved it! :)

"Great Location, Great Hotel for the Money in that Location"
I stayed at the Milford Plaza, April 12-15. I had done a fair bit of research online but you never know what you'll get until you get there. Our whole goal (3 of us) was to find a reasonably priced place within walking distance of Times Square -- we were there to see Avenue Q.
Given that I take all reviews with a grain of salt, and also knew we wouldn't be in the hotel other than to sleep, I decided to ignore the negative reviews on here and go with it as it was the best price. That was a great decision!
The rooms are very small -- our room with two doubles had just enough room for the beds, a small aisle in between the beds and a tv stand, wardrobe (not really in the room, more in the entry to the room) and a dining room type chair -- we did see some of the other rooms, I have to say I've never seen a hotel with two single beds before...and that room was about the size of my closet (and my closet is NOT a walk in). But the rooms were very clean and well taken care of, although a bit dated -- I'm a light sleeper and was delighted my room was at the back. The bathroom was very tiny, but the bathtub was very, very deep - normal length but probably 1.5X as deep as mine at home -- that was lovely after a few days walking the city!
The best part was if you went out the side exit, you were right next to the theatre for Avenue Q (which I recommend to anyone with a sense of humor - it's great).
The concierge staff was excellent, very helpful and knowledgeable -- the location is very convienent for the temporary TKTS location (basically just about half a block down and across the street -- when it moves back to it's real location, it will be about 2 blocks away).
The only drawback to the hotel was that the elevators did not go to the ground floor and only one escalator is there so in the morning it goes down and in the afternoon - so if you're opposite that, you have to take the stairs, which is not that easy when one of your party has a bum knee -- however, I think that if you had a truly disabled individual, they would probably let you use the freight elevator.
In terms of location, it's on the corner of 8th and about 45th, 2 blocks from the infamous 42nd avenue, and about 3 blocks off the main area of time square - a total of 5 blocks from the M&M/Hershey's corner, easy walking distance to rockefeller center and empire state building, about a block from several of the pick up/drop offs for the uptown Double Decker bus tour which is a lot of fun (3 blocks from the night/down town loop).
I would recommend the Milford Plaza as a clean, most reasonable priced (for the location in new york) place to stay.
I highly recommend the chocolate tour as well - especially if you get Bert!! He's excellent, very entertaining and fun.

Great Vacation
This was the nicest, easiest booking in New York. The room was small (as most are) but very clean and very convenient to Times Square, subways, Central Park and Broadway. Would recommend to a friend. |

"I Loved It!!"
This hotel was great! The lobby is absolutely beautiful and the location is amazing. It is right in the middle of Broadway. If you walk up the block Times Square is there. The best part is that its located right across the street from the Subway station. The customer service is outstanding. The rooms are small but its not a problem if you're there just to have a good time! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

"best value"
Just got back from New York on Aug 11/06. We travelled with another family. 3 in our family 4 in theirs. We both had 2 double beds. The rooms are average size for what Manhattan offers. They were clean and comfortable. The price was great and the hotel was centrally located at the corner of 8th and w45. We parked our car and never drove it. New York has a tremendous amount of traffic. In my opinion it was the best and least expensive hotel in manhattan. Try to get this location for $200. Did I mention that continental breakfast was also included. Just ask for it, thats what we did and they threw it in for free. Definately will go back.
