A good stay
This hotel had a good location and you had an excelent view of the Eiffel Tower. The Triple family room was very spacious it had a big bathroom and bedroom with a seperate smaller room with a single bed in however the Double room was much smaller. It is a short walk to the metro station, restaurants and shops. The rooms were quiet unless someone was having a shower in the room next to you. We were a bit supprised when we got there to find no seperate parking although it had said they do have some on this website. You had to find your own parking on the street.Dispite the few bad points I would recommend this hotel. |

"Great value hotel"
We have just returned from 4 nights in Paris at the Val Girard and we were very pleased with the hotel. It is located near the Vaugirard metro and the Town hall of the 15th, and has good transport connections. The hotel is a comfortable but not glamorous 3 star hotel, with a breakfast room, a lift and a quiet courtyard. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. For 60 euros a night for single use of a double I thought it was exceptional value. The only downside is that this was an unusually hot week - 36 degrees - and the hotel is not air-con. The staff were very considerate in trying to allocate cooler rooms, and also in handing out electric fans. My friend took the breakfast which was unremarkable. Rooms were a reasonable size, and had a fridge as well as the usual amenities. Our rooms opened onto the courtyard and were quiet.

"A fortunate choice"
I was surprised by the high standard of this hotel. In its class and price range, it is really quite excellent. The room (twin bed w. bath) was reasonably large, tastefully furnished (especially when compared to some hotels of the Ibis chain that I've stayed at), functional, clean and tidy, and the bathroom had state-of-the-art plumbing. Everything seems to be brand new, yet not depressingly modernistic in the chrome-and-plastic way; the style is wood, leather and textile, with a high, stuccoed ceiling. Sound-proofing between rooms and corridors is, unfortunately, very bad, which is rumoured to be the case with a good many Parisian hotels.
The Val Girard is located on a quiet street that gives the impression of leading straight to the Eiffel tower (it doesn't really, but it is a pleasing illusion). The neighbourhood is pleasant, with many restaurants, food stores and various shops. There is a metro station a short walk up the street as well. As a business traveller on a budget, with little time to waste on learning your way around a strange town, it is great to have everything you may need at arm's length and normal street price.
The staff in the reception all speak remarkably good English, which is quite uncommon in France. Furthermore, they are very helpful and accomodating. Rooms are equipped with telephone, TV and, for a fee, wireless Internet connection.
The regular rate for my room was, as far as I understand, slightly less than 100 Euro, but I only had to pay 50 Euro per night. This may have to do with slow season (January) and last-minute booking (they jumped in with an offer, through an on-line booking agency, after my first choice of hotel failed to respond in time).
I can recommend the Val Girard to anyone, tourists and business travellers alike, whose main interest is to have a "base of operations" in central Paris, a place where you can rest comfortably, freshen up between excursions or meetings, or prepare for the next day. If you for any reason want to spend lots of time at your hotel, then it might get rather dull after a while, and you should probably look for something bigger and fancier that offers a wider variety of services and entertainment.
