"Simple and Inexpensive" We originally booked a hotel online, only to arrive and find it was NOT what we had hoped for and at 11 PM started looking for a different hotel. Lucky for us, we found the Moderno. The wonderful older desk clerk was kindness itself, and gave us an unbelievable rate -69Euro per room, per night including breakfast! We had an interior room-no view but oh so quiet! The room was simple and modern, good sized and immaculate, as was the bathroom. The breakfast was a nice Catalan style with meats, cheeses, cereal, fresh fruit, juice and of course breads, rolls and coffee. Just steps from the Ramblas, it was the perfect small hotel. Not a lot of trimmings, but a good value. ONE note of caution - the rooms are Not soundproof, and you can hear a bit of noise from the other travelers as they come and go. But for that rate I can pack ear plugs! I would gladly return.

"good, clean, central accomadation" 6 of us stayed here from 12-14 april 07 for a stag do in 2 twin rooms, i know barca well and this is a good 3* hotel location - just off ramblas,perfect - safe side st, opp leicu metro, not as loud/noisy as people make out, like any major city just have you're wits about you! rooms - clean, smart, comftable, 3 single beds (with no view) staff - superb ! spoke english, v.helpful, luggage room if you need to store your stuff for a late flight arrival - get blue single decker bus from outside airport , 3.90 euros straight to placa catalunya then walk 5 mins down ramblas then turn right down the road just after boquaria market would recommend as a v.good 2nd choice but try - hotel nh de la victoria as 1st choice (2 min walk from moderno) - brilliant, best hotel in barca Dont go in 'The Wild Turkey' bar over the road from the hotel - big rip off ! Try the Queen Vic (just futher down the Ramblas, little road on right called - something......... de la Ramblas) If you need a British bar - very good prices, sky sports and Newcastle Brown on draft !!!
