"A Brilliant hotel what a find"
I have just stayed in this hotel for the weekend and it was very good.
Having read the reviews left by others I was wondering if I would find it OK and would it be a problem getting in to the centre and back again. When you come out of the station take the exit Nord with a picture of a boat and look right you can not miss it is the very big building with Movenpick in red letters which are lighted up at night. It is very reassuring when you arrive at a strange city to be able to get to your hotel so easily. It is only a 10 minute walk and not 20 as some have suggested. The walk will do you good and it is not far. A small tip as you approach the hotel there is a bridge go over it do not attempt to stay by the river bank as you will have to walk up a flight of stairs at the end. The entrance is very clear as you come over the bridge there are three giant flag poles with massive banners with Movenpick on them how people said they could not see it is beyond me.. Walking back at night I felt perfectly safe. It is well lit with plenty of passing traffic. The one time I did take a cab due to overindulgence late at night cost a reasonable 9 Euro from Dam square. The hotel itself is very clean and the rooms are very modern with great views out across Amsterdam on a sunny day you can see for ever. Both check in and check out went very smoothly.
There where 6 people on duty and it was very busy but we were signed in within minutes of arrival they even had a niece drink awaiting you. All the staff are very polite and happy as you would expect. If they still have the happy hour take advantage drinks half price. 17:00 to 19:00. There are two free internet terminals on the ground floor I wish all hotels offered this service instead of trying to charge for it. I would stay at this hotel again but I doubt I will get the cracking good rate I did this time as I am sure if they maintain the excellent levels of service I encountered it will only become more and more popular. This is the first time I have stayed at this chain but I will look out for them in the future well done.

"Excellent Hotel"
We have just returned from a long weekend stay at the Movenpick Hotel, Amsterdam. We were dealt with quickly at the check in desk and welcome drinks were provided. The Staff were helpful, friendly and very pleasant. The room was bright, airy, very clean and we were supplied with fresh towels every day. We were allocated a room on the sixteenth floor which gave us a spectacular view. The security was obviously taken well into account when this hotel was built as you need to use your key card for your room to activate the lift which we thought was a great idea. There is a courtesy bus which takes you from the hotel to the Central Station every hour on the hour until 18.00hrs.
There is also an excellent tram service which runs very frequently and can be caught across the road from the hotel. If you prefer walking, it is only a ten minute walk to Central Station which is central to the City Centre.
On our last evening, we went to the Restaurant for a beautifully prepared buffet meal and again, the staff were very professional and attentive. This is the first time we have been to this hote and it certainly WILL NOT be the last!!

"Great View"
Stayed in this Hotel for one night on a Saturday night - Hotel is in walking distance of Centraal Station (but definitly not in the centre of town ) if you do not have a big suitcase - located near the Cruise Ship Terminal it is a very large hotel - the area outside it still looks unfinished and it is hard to see where the entrance is . The Hotel is strictly non smoking and you are reminded everywhere of this and the associated penalty.
Mr room was great on the 11th floor with great views of the River and Amsterdam. Rooms are very modern in decor and have a nice clean feel to them - alas only a shower no bath which I was looking forward to.
One dissappointment was that the room service menu was very limited and dissappointing. The breakfast items were a la carte and overrpriced.
Complimentary internet access in the Lobby as well as a shuttle bus to the Station every hour on the hour.
All in all I would go back ...

"Great hotel & location!"
This hotel was a great find for a quick weekend trip to Amsterdam. The hotel is not directly in downtown Amsterdam but is only a few short blocks away from the train station and anything else you might like to do. The room was immaculate and decently sized compared to most European hotel rooms. All in all it was a great experience at the Movenpick.

"Great place to stay!"
What a great place to stay. I was there in Dec. 2006 - the hotel is new and beautiful with large rooms and a decent spa.
When I got there, the staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful and there was a complimentary drink given to you during the check in.
The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from Amsterdam Central station - if you have luggage, spend the 10 Euros and take a cab. With no luggage, it is a nice well lit walk back to the city.
The food was good, internet connections all worked well and the staff was excellent.
All in all, I highly recommend this location.

"Loved Movenpick"
My husband and I stayed there for three nights Jan. 10-13, 2007. The hotel was extremely clean and comfortable. The bathroom was in pristine condition, with a tub. The decor is modern, with down comforters. They had different types of pillows you could request to maximize your comfort. Any requests, i.e. pillows and extra towels, were delivered very promptly. We were greeted at the door when we arrived and a bellhop immediately got a cart for our luggage. There was also fresh juice provided to us while we were checking in. They have a free shuttle to take you to the train station every hour from 7 am to 1800 pm. It is just a ten minute walk from the hotel to city center. I have no complaints and would definitely stay at any movenpick hotel in the future. Also, there was a great breakfast included in the price of our room. It would have easily cost us $30 or more for a similar breakfast anywhere else.
