Mølla Hotell is one of the world’s most unusual hotels in Lillehammer. By 1990 this was the only working mill left in this part of Norway. Then in 1991, after over 130 years of continuous operation, the mill ground its last load of grain and fell silent - no longer able to compete with more modern facilities.

After a painstaking restoration, the Mølla opened as a hotel to welcome guests for the 1994 Winter Olympics. Since then, Mølla Hotell has gained fame around the world and was crowned by the Swiss magazine Bolero as: "one of the world’s most unusual hotels".

Staying at the the Mølla Hotell, you are surrounded by the original architecture and machinery of the historic mill - along with photographs and memorabilia from 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olypmpics. It’s an unforgettable experience.

In the grinding house from 1863 you’ll find the Egon Restaurant - an warm gathering place where everyone is welcome, with food for every taste. With ancient rock walls four feet thick, massive beams, giant millstones, tools from the old mill days, and wonderfully intimate nooks and alcoves for dining, a cozy and memorable dining experience awaits you. In the summertime you can sit out on the terrace overlooking the Mesna river and enjoy a wonderful meal surrounded by the rushing sounds of the river.
