Just a few steps from the impressive St Mark's Square, you will find the refined Monaco And Grand Canal Hotel...
Monaco And Grand Canal Hotel, which overlooks the Grand Canal, is in one of Venice's most charming and atmospheric areas. Monaco And Grand Canal Hotel has majestic views of the Church of Santa Maria della Salute and the island of San Giorgio and it is just next to Cą Giustinian the historical site of the Biennale.
From 1638 the building, originally belonging to the Dandolo family, hosted the first "Ridotto Pubblico", a place to which nobility and people from all walks of life, (adventurers, courtesans, swindlers, and travelers) would retire for pleasure and intrigue. Giacomo Casanova considered this place the ideal backdrop for his conquests.
The recent restoration has managed to revive, with a contemporary feel, the atmosphere of this historic building.
Monaco And Grand Canal Hotel has 100 rooms furnished in grand style for those who want to stay in Venice and become part of its history. |

"Paradiso!"
Just returned from Italy. My wife and I stayed 2 mights at this hotel. We had a "Junior Suite" overlooking the Grand Canal on the 2nd floor (3rd floor in US).
I am always amazed at the wide range of opinions of properties on this site. Our room was spotless--especially the bathroom. It was like that upon checkin and after housekeeping each day. The TV had about a dozen TV channels--at least 3 of which were in English (CNN, MSNBC, Sky News, and Euro Sport) and about 10 different music options.
A continental breakfast was included in the price of the room. And you had the option of having that breakfast delivered to your room at no extra charge. For us, that was a no brainer. Just fill out the menu card, circle the 15 minute window of time you wish delivery, and it gets delivered to your room.
The view overlooking the Grand Canal was truly magnificent. Each day when we returned to the room in the late afternoon I opened the window wide, made myself a drink, and spent about an hour just watching the ferry boats and the many gondolas that loaded from the dock right next to the hotel. And watching the setting sun across the Grand Canal toward the Basilica di Santa Maria Della Salute was almost magical. Views that I will never forget.
The hotel is a 2 minute walk to St. Mark's Square which is where the "action" is. The 6 Euro fee to take the lift to the top of the Campanile was well worth it. The views of the City were breathtaking. Also, the tour of the Basilica and Doge's Palace were unforgettable.

"Excellent location"
Stayed for 4 nights prior to Lake Garda. The hotel faces the Grand Canal adjacent to St Mark's Square so the location is faultless. The hotel itself is well presented and, for a city centre hotel, has decent amenities and reasonably sized rooms. Breakfast was more than adequate with the bonus of being served on a terrace alongside the canal.
The restaurant provided excellent cuisine, albeit at outrageous prices ( a venetian speciality). Bar prices were also OTT but there is a world of choice the moment you step out of the hotel.
For the price we paid the hotel lived up to expectations, the location and view from the terrace being the icing on the cake.

"We were "Saved" by this hotel!"
We had booked a hotel and gone to see it..and it was awful!..so I came down the "street" and found this hotel..my husband was able to book a room and so instead of staying at the "hotel" we had booked via the internet we were able to stay here. It was a wonderful hotel, with a great "modern room"..normally I am interested in older hotels but the one we booked smelled like 5,000 Italians had died there! So..this was a great deal..more than I would have spent to start with but better than what I had...a wonderful CC breakfast on the canal...and I would say..much better than other locations..you are RIGHT on the canal! |
