"Fantastic stay at the Monte Tauro"
Had a wonderful 5 day stay at the Monte Tauro...The location of the hotel,the pool and the lovely,quiet terraces overlooking the bay are as good as it gets in Taormina for the price. The room was very comfortable and the staff were helpful and friendly....The only things to be aware of, there is a steep driveway that one must climb each time you go to town, perhaps 40 steps. For the elderly this may be an issue but otherwise it is fine. The restaurant is completely adequate for breakfast but for lunch and dinner it is preferable to go to the restaurants 5 minutes away which are delightful and very reasonably priced.

"super hotel"
I have just returned from a week's stay at the monte tauro. I would agree with previous 2 reviews.The hotel is in an excellent location,and is one of the quietest hotels I have ever stayed in,probabyt because the lift shaft is on the outside of the building. and inside the hotel it is fairly open plan so no banging door problems.The steps down were not as bad as I had imagined from the descriptions,or maybe I am a fitter !!! The breakfast was excellent and the views from the dining room over Etna were stunning. The rooms are spacious and balcony overlooking the sea lovely for a pre (and post) dinner drink. We did not have dinner at the hotel as there was such a good choice of restaurants in Taormina ,in fact there must be at least 15 restaurants within 5 minute walk all reasonably priced.The staff were friendly,helpul and I also thought pool system very efficient and friendly. This was not a cheap holiday but I felt it was worth it for the high standard of the hotel and the beautiful setting of Taormina.
