"Mount Herbert Hotel was lovely"
Mount Herbert Hotel was lovely, looked like it has recently been refurbished. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was excellent. The DART station was literally a 2 minute walk away just around the corner. It took 5 mins to get to Tara St station in dublin centre. I would highly recommend staying just out of town as it is a party city and would imagine it to be noisy if staying in the city centre. Rogelio, Reykholt

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for one night in February 2006. Compared to prices for other Dublin hotels, we got a good deal. However the room was small and the bathroom even smaller. We were on the lower ground floor, which appeared to be the cheap wing of the hotel. Upon entering the room, we were immediately struck by how cold it was. We could not get the radiator to work and before going out to dinner asked reception to look at this for us. We returned to the room some time later and the room was still like an ice block. Another trip to Reception and this time we were given a plug in heater and told the hotel was fully booked so we had to make do! Not very impressed. The bar and restaurant are good and the standard of food is moderate. Staff were fine with no member particularly standing out. Beware the walls are thin and we could hear everything - from people taking a shower to another couple having a fight with each other in the middle of the night! Overall this hotel was cheap and cheerful.
