The Nether Abbey Hotel has been owned by successive generations of the same family for fifty years. In 2004 the Hotel shut for extensive renovations and refurbishment with simply stunning results. Although priding ourselves on old fashioned personal service there is nothing staid or old fashioned about the Hotel. The public areas are open plan, cool, contemporary and with all the sophistication you would expect from a city centre bar and restaurant.

LOCATION

The Nether Abbey Hotel is well placed within North Berwick to take full advantage of the area's fine beaches, the wide variety of outdoor pursuits available, the town's Sports Centre with indoor swimming pool and the new Scottish Seabird Centre, located at North Berwick harbour.

North Berwick is a charming seaside town with sandy beaches, a picturesque harbour and a bustling high street surrounded by beautiful countryside. The area provides some of the best golf courses in Scotland. Muirfield, North Berwick, Dunbar and Gullane are only some of the twenty-plus courses within a twenty minute drive, all offering a different challenge and attracting golfers from around the world.

The surrounding area offers an excellent variety of activities. Golf is the main attraction and golf packages are our speciality.

* Fly-Half Bar and Grill has been a popular destination with locals for many years. Eating is as formal or informal as you want to make it with lots of eating options. Our extensive A La Carte menu is available seven days per week and all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

* The Fly Half Bar is the place to see and be seen in North Berwick with a lively scene on Friday nights with locals enjoying a well earned drink at the end of the week. The Bar is all gleaming chrome and granite providing a memorable eating and drinking experience in relaxed and elegant surroundings. The comfortable leather sofas just beg to be lounged on with a cappuccino in one hand and newspaper in the other. Entertainment is provided by a state of the art fully integrated sound system - and don’t worry about missing your team in action as all major sporting events are shown on a large flat screen TV.

ROOM AMENITIES

* The Nether Abbey Hotel started life as a grand seaside house at the turn of the 19th century. As with many buildings of this era, each room has its own character with high ceilings on the first floor and coombes and fireplaces in most second-floor rooms - the original servants quarters. However, one thing that all twelve rooms and bathrooms have in common is that they have all been renovated to an exceptionally high standard.

* No detail has been overlooked. Most of the fixtures and furniture were not only made specifically for us but are in fact one-off designs, including the beautiful crystal light-shades. and the hand-woven woollen throws.
