"The location was great as it was so close to Bastille "
New Hotel Candide's front staff was friendly. They provided a few tips of the area which is quite central.
The location was great as it was so close to Bastille which is a vibrant area. All I needed was to take one main street and there I was! The closest subway is Voltaire which is in between Bastille and Republique.
The room was clean and done early enough during the day. At night, the hotel is secured and there is someone on duty to let you in no matter when you decide to call it a night.

"New Hotel Candide was pleasant enough"
New Hotel Candide was pleasant enough, but the inside could have done with a lick of paint! Generally good value for money ....... a little further out of Marais than the hotel suggested.

"Good value, excelent location"
Me, my wife and my 8 years son were there for 5 nights. Perhaps one could expect a little bit more confort and larger rooms (ours was really small) for a 3* where some luxury hotels are 4* (I even heard more than once that the French haven't 5*), but still it was a good deal for 65 € a night for the three of us.
The staff is friendly enough, but not too expansive.
The location is very good, 50 meters away from Voltaire metro station, which in turn is in a line that ends in the important hub of Nation. That means that one reaches rapidly any part of the town or suburb.
You can also take a bus direct to the Louvre and Tour Eiffel in a bus stop 1 block away from the hotel.
Although we didn't it, mainly because it was too cold for a southern family like us and we have a kid that sometimes stresses after a few hours of walking, the central Marais and Ile de la Cite (Louvre, Notre-Dame, the Mairie, etc.) is perfectly accessible by foot.
There are a couple of choices of restaurants and cafes nearby.
I spend a couple of hours searching in hotel reservation websites before I reserved and after being there I don't hesitate in saying that I did an excelent choice and I wouldn't mind reserving it again.

"Best Value"
Stayed there for 6 nights, and it was the best value for the money we spent. If you are looking for a clean place to stay, close to Metro, quiet this is the hotel you need. The stuff was polite and always helpful. There are few places to go and eat around the corner too, so you avoid the touristic hustle of the city center. Panos, Greece.

"Good value"
Amazingly enough, the service was above average - for Paris - and for
a moderate three star hotel. I had opted for the 'room only' plan (with no breakfast - always more choice and cheaper outsite the hotel). At 70 euros per night, it was a great deal!
I was not sure on how to get there from the subway, so I called the hotel and they promptly gave me the directions. It was actually quite
simple but I was glad I did not waste time searching while carrying my heavy suitcase.
The front staff was friendly. They provided a few tips of the area which is quite central. After the first night, I asked to move to a quieter room and they were able to accomodate. It was actually a nicer room and I did not pay any extra charge. I was also able to borrow the iron and iron board each time I needed it.
The location was great as it was so close to Bastille which is a vibrant area. All I needed was to take one main street and there I was! The closest subway is Voltaire which is in between Bastille and Republique. The hotel is well located, and not as noisy as the busiest neighborhoods.
The room was clean and done early enough during the day. At night, the hotel is secured and there is someone on duty to let you in no matter when you decide to call it a night.
A nice basic hotel with limited thrills and good value if you want a central base to explore Paris.
