"Can't believe the bad reviews - you get what you pay for"
My husband and I stayed here for a week on our honeymoon last May. We were on a tight budget as we had already done two weeks down the East coast. Had I read these reviews before booking I would not have booked which would have been a shame. The hotel IS next to two sex shops but a brilliant location for the theatre district. However, it is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is through the back door into Papa John's next door where a brilliant man (unfortunately and Arsenal supporter!) does breakfast, bagels etc... The rooms are cleaned every day. The bathrooms are tiny - well microscopic and we did have water running onto the tiles from the floor above but they sorted that out pronto. If you accept that you are paying practically nothing for a room in a fab location in New York then it is fine. We were on the second floor at the front so I don't know what the rooms higher are like. When they knew we were on honeymoon they moved us down as we were originally supposed to be on the 4th floor.
If you treat this hotel as it is and are prepared to have a good laugh and accept you are only sleeping there then it is a good cheap stay.
Having said all this not the place for a girly weekend.
