"NH Kensington - central location and a good hotel" Just a hop,skip and jump from Earls Court Road (exit that side of the Tube), this newly opened hotel was created out of a section of a row of Kensington mansion flats. The inside has been gutted and it's effectively a new-build so don't expect Victorian room -sizes. Very pleasant, efficient reception and the rooms are fresh and have a strong contemporary edge. Good bed, fresh crisp linen, fluffy white towels, very modern bathroom with good shower and upmarket toiletries. The bedside book of short stories is a nice touch. The plasma TV is a plus though if you were wanting a night in the channel selection is pretty limited. Would have been nice to be offered PPV. Rooms are wi-fied but £15 a day is the connection fee. Dodge the (buffet) breakfast unless you feel like the treat of having room service. The breakfast room faces onto the busy Cromwell Road and is not very inviting - someone took the bright, minimalism a step too far in the fitting out. At £16.99 a pop for a pretty standard spread you might prefer to pop across the road to the various coffee-shops or even the odd greasy spoon (try Benji's if you fancy a fry-up). A pleasant (small) bar comprises part of the reception area - more a stop for a drink or coffee on way out or when coming back in than a hunker down for the night place. If you are visiting for the Earls Court Exhibition centre or doing the South Ken museums this is an ideal spot. Bag a back room facing onto the gardens and ask for one not next to the very "whooshy" lifts. There is a Sainsbury's local on EC Road and a larger store a stroll along Cromwell Road for stocking up with supplies. As ever in London, the mini-bar is mini and expensive and leaves no other refrigerated space.

"Great location, nice hotel!" After reading some of the (very) bad reviews, I was a little afraid of booking a room in this hotel. However, I have stayed in NH hotels in other countries before and I was never disappointed. So we took the bet and we were NOT disappointed at all. The location nearby the tube is great! We had a really nice room with a nice sitting area, a well-stocked and spotless bathroom and a flatscreen against the wall. Staff was very friendly. We did not have breakfast in the hotel but in one of the nearby coffee shops. I will definitely return to this hotel!

"Convenient location for Kensington & Chelsea" I was a little hesitant about booking this hotel after reading some of the reviews on this site. However, the location in Kensington & Chelsea fitted in with my plans [the nearest Tube is Earl's Court - a five minute walk away] and the hotel seemed clean and modern from the pictures on the website - having only opened in September 2006. First impressions on approaching the hotel were favourable. The building was originally a block of mansion flats and had been tastefully converted into an hotel with the original facade restored and replacement wooden sash windows fitted. Check-in was quick and staff were pleasant [it was Saturday morning]. The rooms were well furnished in a contemporary style with a plasma TV fitted onto the wall and, in my room, floor to ceiling sash windows which opened onto the rather busy Cromwell Road. Noise however was not a problem due to the double glazing. Weekday traffic may make a difference. The bathroom was well finished and spotlessly clean. I'd booked a rate without breakfast so the following morning I checked out early and went to one of the numerous local coffee shops. Check out was fairly quick although on my return I did notice that there was a queue for check out which seemed to be moving fairly slowly. For my money this was a more than satisfactory hotel in a decent area, handy for local nightlife with pleasant bars and restaurants nearby. I'd stay again.
