Laguna Palace complex is really very easy. It is conveniently located between the centre of Venice, the motorway exits and the airport; it is easy to get to from all the cities in Veneto. The hotel is located only 10 minutes by car from Venice Piazzale Roma, 15 minutes from Cruise departure, 25 minutes from Venice Island by hotel private boat, 5 minutes travel by car from Mestre train station, and 15 minutes from Marco Polo Airport. .

"High Tech and Gorgeous!!!!!!"
Superb hotel in a suburb of Venice and very close to the airport. Very high tech ambience and super marina that has a glassed in canopy!!! I have never seen anything like it. Modern rooms with lots of glass and stainless steel. Immaculate and also has a fridge which is nice for keeping snacks cold. Cheapest in room internet anywhere for about 5 Euro/24 hours.....
For a nominal fee, there is a water taxi that will take you into Venice. The city bus is only 1 Euro!!!!!
Found a huge supermarket only a block away and bought superb cheeses and prosciutto to snack on in the room. Beer, wine and sodas were disgustingly cheap. A 1.5 liter bottle of water was only 30 cents!!!!!!!!!
Would I stay here again????? You bet!!!!!

"your base in Mestre to explore Venice"
We stayed in the Laguna for 4 days, during August 2006. The hotel is situated in the quiet seaside town of Mestre 10 minutes by car to Venice. It is modern, with spacious rooms, true 4 star services and very good value for money. The hotel consists of 2 buildings facing each other connected by a huge transparent roof made of glass. The space in between the 2 buildings is a marina for small yachts and boats and is connected through a canal to the Venice lagoon. There is a huge underground parking facility.
If you have a car, you can drive to Venice in 10 minutes, park easily in the Tronchetto island and then with vaporetto go downtown. By bus, it will take a 5 minute walk to the busstop and 10 minutes wait until the first one (take the 4 or 4/) arrives and drives you to Venice in 10 mins.
We enjoyed our stay in the Laguna very much. For a price of about 130-140 Euro per night, you get a very nice 4 star hotel. The breakfast was served outside, in the marina, under the roof. We were able to have dinner outside even during rain, thanks to the roof!
In a nutshell, I highly recommend to choose Laguna, if you decide to visit Venice and stay in Mestre. You will not regret it.
On the other hand, if you want to stay inside Venice and go for a more traditional hotel, be prepared to pay 2 times more for a 3 star property and either walk miles to and from it carrying your luggage or pay very expensive fares to water taxis.
Overall, Venice is beautiful and quite expensive. The gondola trip is a must, but negotiate the price before you embark. The prices double around sunset time!

"Ideal Base"
Booked this hotel for 4 night stay in May 2004.
Room very modern and well equiped.
Breakfast very good but sometimes a bit crowded.
Although this hotel is not on Venice Island they do a free shuttle to the main bus station on Venice Island and return. Also they also do a free boat taxi to the Rialto Bridge and return.
As regards location, OK, it is not sited on Venice Island itself but what I like is to spend the day sight-seeing in Venice and relaxing at night to refresh for the next day. I ate at the hotel and found that the food was good and variable and very reasonable with their prices for a 4 star hotel.
Hotel staff were very helpful at all times and satisfied all questions that I fired at them.
there is a local supermarket about 100 yards from the hotel that sells most things cheaply [drinks etc].
Boat taxi from hotel to Rialto Bridge takes about 40 Mins. and very relaxing to start your day.
On the return journey from the Rialto Bridge to the hotel you can have a drink at the cafe next to the landing stage while you are waiting for your transport. Very relaxing and recommended. Just watch the world go by.
