"Best Hotel in Zandvoort"
Stayed at the NH Zandvoort for two nights in June 2004 with my wife. Weather was wet & windy when we arrived and stayed dull throughout most of our stay - the resort looks a little sad and tired when the weather is poor but a bit of sun really brings it alive esp. at weekends when day trippers flood in via train (10-15 mins walk away).
The hotel staff were friendly overall and we enjoyed some nice breakfasts and an excellent 3 course dinner for Euro 25.
Our deluxe room was very spacious and fairly well kept. I had asked for a double bed but this turned out to be two twins pushed together - not very romantic !
The room also had a sofa-bed large enough for two (small) people.
The hotel is at the end of the main coast road and next to the F1 race track - the hotel has day packages available for those who would like to learn to race (saloon) cars.
My wife used the "Beauty Centre" at the hotel and found it to be good but expensive.
The train journey into Amsterdam takes about half an hour and costs about Euro 5 with a change in Haarlem.

"charming winter destination"
Hotel Nh Zandvoort--in charming seaside resort--which can be wall-to-wall with people in summer--is quiet, brisk, charming in the winter. The town is easily accessible by train from Haarlem and Amsterdam, is not far from Schiphol, and the hotel has an accommodating staff and good amenities. An easy walk to the center of town--where good shops and some excellent restaurants are open year round. Friendly atmosphere--a convenient bus to go to neighboring Haarlem, and a vintage train station with plenty of trains in and out. Our room had a refrigerator, egg cooker, tea kettle, microwave, and plenty of room to stretch out. We had a relaxing and invigorating week walking along the dramatic dunes and enjoying the stark seascape.

"Sumptuous out of season"
If you want a good quality hotel within easy reach of Amsterdam and yet not paying anywhere like Amsterdam prices then why not choose this place? Zandvoort itself is one of those post-war reconstructed resorts and lacks character but the hotel is warm and comfortable and entirely satisfactory for a short break, especially out of season when it can be very peaceful indeed. Although a bracing twenty minute walk from the railway station you do pass by some wonderful seafood stalls which serve good food at reasonable prices. Don't hang around on Zandvoort station because it is used as a shelter for drunks; however, if you time it right there's usually a train that you can get straight onto. The hotel rooms were of a good standard, spacious; and the bathrooms were spotless.
