"Would definitely use this hotel again"
Normafa Hotel is a bit out of the town in the hilly area above Buda. Excellent choice at breakfast, rooms very clean, staff very helpful.
Would definitely use this hotel again.

"Normafa Hotel is a lovely oasis "
Normafa Hotel is a lovely oasis overlooking Budapest. A small resort with a lovely pool and outdoor restaurant. The weather was very hot in June 2006 and coming back to the small resort with the pool and outside restaurant and the coolness of being in the hills was just perfect. Our room was very comfortable and we requested air conditioning which was a pleasure in the heat. Everything worked fine in the room and the whole experience was enchanting. |

"Welcome to Budapest"
Looking for an inexpensive hotel in Budapest we hit upon the Normafa which although listed as 4 star had a room price cheaper than some 3 star hotels downtown. What a good choice! In our room we had a king sized bed, balcony, tv corner with lounge chairs and a sofa. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was much more than adequate. The outdoor pool was open and well maintained with saunas and a fitness room. We bought a weekly bus pass each and travelled on frequent buses, trams and the metro all over the city. The bus stopped outside the hotel and we could be down in the city within 20 minutes. The hotel cafe/restaurant was open early and late serving excellent food. Unfortunately the weather was misty and wet but the hotel is surrounded by woods and walking paths which we could have explored. We are returning to Budapest in January and we've already re-booked at the Normafa!

"Perfect Choice"
What a find!! Booked a mid week break for my wife and I whilst the kids were away on an activity week. Couldn't believe our luck. The hotel is in a beautiful location right in the heart of the Buda hills. Spotlessly clean with polite and attentive staff. Not much around the hotel but the nearby outdoor grill is wonderful, great food and and atmosphere at reasonable prices, ideal for relaxing after a hard day's sight seeing. The hotel is a little way out of the centre but buses run very regularly (number 21 or 90) and take you direct to a tube station. You can be in the city centre within half an hour for a few pence. The pool and health/fitness centres are great (treat yourself to a massage - wonderful) We could not fault the place, thoroughly recommended.

"Super location"
My partner and I stayed at Normafa for a long weekend (4 nights) in the last week of August. The hotel is next to the nature reserve which affords very pleasant walks and a wonderful view of the city. It is also very convenient to go to town as the terminus for bus No 21 is just down the road and it runs very frequently. Get a tourist travel card (1 day, 3 days or 5 days) for unlimited use on public transport! The hotel room is comfortable and the restaurant serves good food!

"Normafa Hotel - Great Place - Great Base"
A lovely hotel perched high up in the hills overlooking Budapest. Take a walk over the road to the other side of the hill (about 3 minutes away) for the most breath-taking views - see photo. Very good food. Breakfast excellent. Recommend going half board. Rooms a little on the small side but clean and functional. Staff very friendly and helpfull. Has a nice swimming pool so pack the cosys! Takes about 15 minutes to get into the city by bus and about 20 minutes back (because of the hill). If you are going for more than two days recommend getting the Budapest Card...free travel anywhere, and good discounts (sometimes free) on entry to loads of sites...just flash the card! It will more than pay for itself.
Have a nice time. Feel free to e-mail me if I can help with any queries!

"Fantastic hotel with friendly service in a tranquil location..."
The Normafa Hotel is on the Buda Hills in a quiet and tranquil location - it's just 20 minutes by bus 21 or 90 to Moscow Square, from which you can catch the Metro or simply walk to various areas of interest such as the Royal Palace.
Within 2 minutes of the hotel is a fantastic viewing point, from which you can see the city - I would highly recommend visiting both during the day and at night. (If you're going to do the latter, a torch would be a good idea, as there are not many streetlamps about!) Also within walking distance is János-hegy (Janos Hill) with its Watch Tower that provides even better views of Budapest.
The hotel itself represents excellent value for money. The rooms are very modern and clean, and the staff provide a friendly and efficient service. The buffet breakfast is slightly limited compared to others I have seen, but the hotel offer to make other items such as pancakes and cooked breakfasts freshly to order, at no extra charge. I thought this was a nice touch.
In terms of facilities, it's hard to fault this hotel. The Internet Room provides a PC, as well as the ability to connect your own laptop if you wish, at no charge. If you'd like to use a laptop in your room, wireless access is available throughout the hotel - the cards can be purchased at reception. In addition, the Games Room contains a billiards table, DVD player, chess board and table football. We didn't try out the swimming pool or fitness centre, but that looked impressive too.
The Cafe & Grill restaurant just outside the hotel (owned by the Normafa) is wonderful - particularly impressed with the soups. Vegetarian food wasn't a problem at all! However if you're new to Hungary, be aware that drinks are often priced per dl rather than per glass - we weren't aware of this on our first day!
By the way, single bus tickets can be purchased at reception - they are 170 Ft each. This is definitely a convenient service. If you're going as a tourist, I would advise against the Budapest Card, as a lot of attractions are free anyway, so it seems to represent pretty poor value for money. Single journey tickets for the bus and metro are fairly cheap...
Thanks to all at the Normafa Hotel for a wonderful stay!
