Approximately 11 km from the sea Novotel Cote De Nacre Hotel is perfect location to discover the charm of a very picturesque region of France. Museums, castles and abbey churches. Near the new CBDs of the Grand Caen.

This is a modern building with a garden, an unheated swimming pool,a terrace and parking facilities. The large lobby is welcoming and bright. This good standard hotel is a suitable choice for both business and leisure travellers.

All bedrooms are medium in size, functional and clean. They have a double bed, a sofa bed and offer all main modern facilities. The bathroom, separated from the toilet, is medium-sized and in good condition.

The ground floor restaurant serves simple, grilled food and salads. Barbecues are arranged on the terrace during the summer months.

Novotel Cote De Nacre Hotel is situated about 5 kms from the train station and about 2 minutes drive from the town centre. The nearest beach is only 10 kms away.

A virtue has been made of the necessity of clearing away the rubble of Caen's medieval houses, which formerly pressed up against its ancient Château ramparts. The resulting open green space means that those walls are now fully visible for the first time in centuries. In turn, walking the circuit of the ramparts gives a good overview of the city, with a particularly fine prospect of the reconstructed fourteenth-century facade of the nearby church of St-Pierre. Some magnificent Renaissance stonework has survived intact at the church's east end.

"Great hotel with kids"
I stayed in the hotel for 8 days in August with my 11 year old son to visit the D-day beaches. The hotel is conveniently located near the highway access when we needed it – yes we looked for the hotel entrance the first time but did not missed it when we passed in front of the small board that announced it. It is with 10 minutes drive from the east side of the D-day beaches (Pegasus bridge) and within 50 minutes from the western side (Ste-Mere l’Eglise). We had a room with 2 beds (1 double, one single), very large for European standard (we paid 85 euro/night. Lots of space to undo our bags. The hotel had a pool that we did not used for lack of time… There were some chairs outside the pool area in the sun and the shade – great to read before going to eat. There was a Playstation in the reception area – very useful to “reward” your child after a long day visiting museums. The room was clean, non-smoking and the beds comfortable. I will definitively return to this hotel when visiting Caen.
