"is good place to stay with kids" Novotel Gare De Lyon Hotel is good place to stay with kids. It is located a bit a way from the typical tourist spots but still very easy to get to them. One good way is walking to the river and taking the boat. Doreen, Fortuna

"A taste of France" Stayed here on the way to London via train. The station (Gare de Lyon) is literally next door to the hotel Novotel and, despite the proximity, I never heard a train once. My room was facing the rail lines as well!! The public areas are very small and can get a bit crowded however the staff are great and helped me with directions, power adaptors etc. My room was a superior room and was one of the most functional rooms I have stayed in for a very long time (I spend 120 nights a year in hotels). They have dedicated work areas which are movable, funky bathroom with shower and tub, seperate toilet and I even had a 2 seater couch which converts to a 2nd bed. I cannot really give the hotel too much credit for its breakfast room and the overcrowding. It appeared they were overwealmed and couldn't cope. The staff did not replenish food and the eggs were stone cold. Coffee jugs constantly empty and staff made a load of noise when collecting dirty plates etc. Having said this, if it's just bakery and coffee you want I guess it's a good space to enjoy it in. If I stay here again I would order room service for the same price and enjoy my breakfast in this well appointed room. One other thing I have to comment on is the Do Not Disturb sign placed on my door. They DID disturb me twice! This has happened all over France so I might not make it a specific comment to this property. Oh, the room has one of those mini bars which trigger when you move anything in the bar and instantly charge it to your bill. Putting some cheese in there without moving anything was like playing the game "operation". The staff are very understanding however and take your word for it if you do happen to accidentaly move anything and it gets charged. I loved this room and the area is not too bad either. There are supermarkets, trains and the metro right at your door step. Shame eating in Paris is so damn expensive and the quality of food is naff just about anywhere you go. The Novotel is my vote for a good night's sleep!

"good location" Stayed here for five nights. Staff friendly and helpful. Room was bright, clean, quiet and air conditioning worked perfectly (must have been improved). Pool was small but open 24 hours so it was quiet late in the evening. Plenty of good restaurants nearby and river was only a few hundred yards away from where you can take a boat to the Eiffel tower. Gare de Lyon is ideal for the train to Disney and Metro. PC available in foyer with internet access but pricey.

"nice place" we stayed in this hotel for 5 days with our two children. the staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was big enough for 4 people. all in all we enjoyed the place 2 min. to metro and shops and restaurants within two minutes too. the place is very safe, even in the night, we can recommend this hotel to every families. the indoor pool is open until midnight, and our children enjoyed swimming in the night. the hotel is also very clean! and last the breakfast is absolutely OK!
