"Very Relaxing and Peaceful"
We just returned from a weeks stay at the Oyster Bay Resort. We had a great time. The resort itself was clean, safe, quiet and comfortable. Apon check-in, I noticed the staff at the main reception desk was not exacty friendly. The bartenders and rest staff was especially nice though. We rented a car and explored the entire island. Hotel is pretty secluded, you should definitly rent a car. Beau Beau's had great swordfish, Mahi Mahi...very fresh. We ate there a few times. Mrs Busbys was a very cute little place just outside the gates of the resort (which is guarded 24/7). They have great breakfast! Fresh fruit, great eggs and bacon. The dinner was good as well. If they caught lobster that day, they will serve it grilled. I had it 2x's...excellent. Meals there very cheap. Dinner for two two, we never spent over $100. Definitely check out Orient Beach, Grand Case, Marigot, PHillipsburg. Watch when the cruise ships are in..front street will be very busy and parking is minimal. Maho Beach was also a favorite. There you can experience the planes landing right over your head! There is a bar there..(they have great burgers) and you can rent lounge chairs for the day. Take the ferry over to St Barts. It leaves Wednesdays at 9am right across the marina at Captain Olivers Resort. It is about a 45 min ride but beware, the swells are very l;arge and the ferry goes very slow, causeing a slow rocking movement...everyone was getting sick. Be sure to take something before hand. They was back isnt as bad because you are going against the swells. It is definitely worth it though, St Barts is absolutely beautiful. All high end shopping, Dior, Hermes, Louis Vouitton...we rented a jeep for the day, you'll need it to get around. Food is excellent, lots of french bakeries, no poverty..everything is beautiful. I am considering staying there this winter. Roads are windy and steep as well as St Martin. When your in St MArtin, do not leave anything in your car..luggage, bags etc. Even the front desk of the resort will tell you, it WILL get stolen. Not exactly a "Friendly Island" All in All, we had a good time and a relaxing vacation.

"A Beautiful Escape"
We enjoyed our stay in St. Maarten. Visiting this resort allowed us to enjoy some peaceful time together. We met some nice people from all over. The restuarants, Beau Beau's, Bugsby's, the Infinity and "The Big Fish were just a few of the local places we frequently visited. The Mom and Pop store carried many useful items. The activities, we enoyed were, the Three Island snorkle trip, the bus trip to the carnival parade and back and don't let me forget the exercise class every morning at 8:00 a.m. in the Infinity pool. That was great for me. This resort was very self contained and deserve a great review in my opinion. No rental car is really needed other than to get to and from the airport.

"A VERY relaxing and fun-filled vacation in St. Martins"
We went to St. Martin and stayed at Oyster Bay Beach Resort via a Time-share exchange "get-a-way". We've been to other Caribbean locations (Cancun, Caymans, St. John's) and could compare this vacation to those. We traveled during the low season (hurricane) and usually get trip insurance... but haven't had problems and enjoyed the great prices! St. Martins was wonderfully different from our other experiences. It offered the European and multi-cultural experience that the other locations did not. Additionally, we were able to dine at wonderful restaurants with ease. Our resort always had something going on... so we felt no "pressure" to find a trip, entertainment or restaurant. The beaches were beautiful... We love snorkeling... St. John's and the Caymans had better reefs than St. Martins but we were able to find places to snorkle right off of the beach and then take some boat trips to beautiful islands around St. Martins. I would definately recommend the trip to Prickley Pear (Anguilla). It was an all-day trip on a cataraman. We were fed snacks and drinks onboard and then landed at our destination of the uninhabitated island of Prickley Pear, where we could snorkle, swim and we were provided a wonderful lunch... I also enjoyed the artists on the island and being able to practice my French on the French side. The markets were clean and fun... Cruise ships do come into Phillisburg. That changes the dynamics of the area. We thought that the prices were better when their were no ships in... But, the Duty Free island did have great prices on jewerly, alcohol and other items. We truly enjoyed the Guavaberry Rum Liquor and wish that we purchased more. If you go, you must enjoy the great dutch and french cheese, chocolate and have a great Guavaberry "sunset".... It was just a place where I could be as active as I wanted to be or just stay put without feeling pressure. Enjoy.
