"Palace Hotel was great" Palace Hotel was great, and we could not have been happier. The hotel is centrally located, and is within walking distances of all attractions and transport connections. The view from our room was stunning - we stayed on the 2nd floor and had a full view of the lake. It had a really cosy feel. The continental breakfast (included in cost of room) was excellent - a selection of breads, cereal, deli meats, cheeses, fruit, jams, etc, plus tea, coffee and juice. The dining room itself is very well presented and also has views (despite being located on the ground floor). The reception staff were friendly and helpful. They helped us with finding train departure times and recharged our ipod, and did it all with a smile.

"Beautiful views." At Palace Hotel we had generally good experience except a bit noisy (cleaning staff) in the mornings. Good room size. Beautiful views. Next to the regional train station. 1.5 km from the Eurostar train station. Close to the vernacular train which is a kick to ride to the top of the mountain next to the hotel.

"Stay at a Palace on Lake Como" The Palace Hotel is a grand 19th-century hotel set in its own green park on the shore of Lake Como, just across the street from the docks where the lake steamers pick up passengers. It is also just a few blocks from the center of the attractive city of Como. Our room was so large that it felt a bit empty, even with a king bed. We had a view of the lake. The bathroom was a majestic size and was updated and immaculate. The breakfast (included) was very extensive, with excellent pastries, fruits, etc., and was served in the hotel's ornate dining room lined with huge 19th-century paintings. We also enjoyed the attractive bar/casual restaurant in a separate building directly overlooking the lake (open in summer only). While the grand old hotel sometimes felt a bit impersonal, our room was comfortable and the hotel's location is excellent. And while Como may not be quite as charming as Bellagio and other small towns that line the lake to its north, it is certainly the most convenient from a transportation viewpoint, since it has regular train service to Milan (an hour away) and nonstop bus service to/from Milan's Malpensa International Airport (also about an hour away). Thus, the city of Como and the lakeshore Hotel Palace make an excellent and convenient base for exploring this beautiful lake country. We are pleased to recommend both.

"Good Base to Explore !" The Palace Hotel is a great location in Como very close to the train station and right across from the ferry terminal which takes you to the other towns on the lake.Bars,restaurants & shops are within minutes walking distance.The hotel is a large hotel and has lovely grounds and free car parking. The main dining rooms are very ornate and have a real Palace feel to them although our bedroom was fairly standard.The hotel also serves a good breakfast!
