"Fantastico!"
The best hotel I have ever stayed at in all of Italy (have been all over). The building is beautiful, the rooms amazing, the restaurant brilliant, the staff were the most helpful I have ever encountered anywhere in the world. I wouldn't say perfect, the road outside was a little noisy, but as near as you'll get. The hotel was renovated 1&1/2 yrs ago but looks as if it was done yesterday. We thought we were the 1st to stay in the room it was so crisp! I'' certainly be back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

"Absolutely beautiful!"
If staying in Modica Alta, you won't be disappointed with this hotel. It is without doubt the grandest hotel in the area. The building itself is over 1000 years old, beautifully decorated with all modern amenities. The staff is wonderful and as helpful as they could be. Most of the receptionists spoke English quite well. Signore Failla is the owner of the hotel and also explained to us that the building was owned by his grandfather. One of the bedrooms was his own bedroom as a child. The double rooms are very spacious and beautifully decorated. There is a lot of street noise, so if you are looking for absolute quiet, you would fare better staying at a local farmhouse or villa. The adjoining restaurant is very upscale with an amazing menu. The highlight of each morning was the incredible breakfast spread which was nothing like what we are use to in America! It consisted of fresh cheeses like mozzerella and ricotta (and this wasn't Polly-O Brand out of a plastic tub!) thinnly sliced ham and prosciutto, tomatoes, fresh cakes and croissants. Feel free to load up at breakfast because if you miss lunch while site-seeing, the restaurants close at 2:30 and do not open again until 8pm! You will definitely enjoy this beautiful hotel.

"Top-class hotel"
Excelled in every respect, frankly. We stayed in the junior suite, despite booking (and paying for) a regular double. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, clean and spacious rooms. The hotel has a very good restaurant (10% discount for residents), and I've never seen such a selection of cakes and tarts (as well as more healthy options) for breakfast. If you're not up for the full nine course meal, the hotel bar does some excellent bar food made to order.
