"What a lovely hotel" We stayed here recently and found it to be a lovely hotel on Guidecca Island facing directly across to St Marks Square. It was good to see that the hotel had maintained the feel of the convent in the restoration of the building. The communal areas such as reception, corridors and stairs were all authentic with broken/chipped marble on the floors, rickety concrete stairs etc. I'm glad it was left like this rather than modernised and carpeted as it added to the charm. You felt you were stepping back in time and the only thing that made you realise otherwise were the heavy bright orange firedoors. Still, they're there for a reason. The rooms themselves were nothing less than magnificent. I think we might have been given more than the standard double room. We had a huge bedroom area with domed ceiling and a seperate dressing area before the bathroom. That was enormous! Double sinks, huge, deep bath and a shower big enough to fit the family! The towels and robes were lovely too. As a previous reviewer stated, the lighting in the bathroom could have been a bit better with maybe a dimmer switch so you could make it a bit more intimate rather than bright when soaking in the bath. The breakfast room was pleasant and had sufficient choice to set you up for the day. They would even cook eggs on request. The restaurant was closed during our stay although they did snacks. The Cipriani is next door so you can eat there if you've loads of money or catch the hotel shuttle across to ST Marks. Guidecca doesn't have an abundance of places to eat but we did stumble across a Trattoria which was an experience in itself! Turn left out of the hotel and then first left down an alley. Full of Italians, a menu handwritten on an A4 sheet of paper and a waitress and chef who doubled up with each other and didn't speak English. Try it, it was cheap and the food was good. I loved this hotel for it's location and the plush rooms. It certainly made a romantic setting for a special occasion.

"Fabulous!!!!!!!!!!" Although we had a basic double room reserved, we were given a suite at check in. It was absolutly fabulous!!!!! The hotel is very stylish, elegant and historical. The fact that it is across the canal from all the action was actually a strong positive because it was very quiet and we had an outstanding view of Venice. All you really do is take their complmentary boat over to one of their other properties on the main island. The room/suite was a very nice size, bathroom was great and amenities awesome. The staff were very respectful, polite, helpful and patient. The hotel seemed to have just opened so they are still working on some things but we were extremely satisfied andwould recommend this property highly

"Loved the Palladio Hotel " The Bauer Hotel's new boutique hotel is lovely, serene, & well-appointed. From your warm reception at check-in, to the lovely breakfast waitstaff, one feels quickly at home. The design by one of the Renaissance's top architects, Andrea Palladio, with views of the lagoon, is understated yet warm. The breakfast, which is included in the price, is delicious. Fresh eggs, cereals, smoked salmon, delicious fruits, homemade baked goods, & fresh tomatoes & mozarella awaits you in a sunny room, which, also, has an outside terrace. Mariecianti ( forgive me for misspelling your name) is very helpful at the front desk. You can take their private water taxi to The Bauer Hotel across the lagoon or the vaporettos, which constantly ply the lagoon. The peaceful setting of the hotel is welcomed, after a full day of sightseeing.

"Very nice Hotel, simply fantastic" We recommended this hotel, located in a excelent place, so close San Marcos and so quite. When they open the SPA, next june, for sure, it will be one of more demanded hotels. You can walk around, it is very nice to be far from crowed center. The staff also is very kind and helpfully The rooms are large, very clean and with a palace feeling. The price/quality is excelent.
